Fleur De Lis Decor'

Hello Everyone!
Have you noticed you decorate with the same things?
I just realized how much I use the fleur de lis symbol.
It is found everywhere in our home. It surprised me!
The fleur de lis is French and means lily flower.
It is associated with French and Spanish monarchy.
I chose our door never realizing it had the symbol on it. A silk pillow. Another beautiful tassel made by Nancy.
I found this metal plate at a hospital gift shop. A finial for a table. Wooden finials from Marshalls.
I didn't even realize they were fleur de lis until now.
A fleur de lis accent mirror and a plate.
I've had the mirror for years and it's also from Marshalls.
I ordered a new crown from Mary recently.
She came across a few and offered to sell them to us.
I opened the box and saw more of the design.
The large Lenox vase we received as a wedding gift. A close up of the sweet mini crown.
I think it's a very regal and elegant symbol.
Do any of you use it in your home decor'?
Have a wonderful week!

Girl you have got it covered in the fleur-de-lis department, and I love it! You have got so many pretties in your beautiful home, and I love them all! Thanks for sharing, Melissa.

now that you mention it...I use it a lot too!!!
oh...and I am sure you know that I am going to say that I love that crown!!!!

Melissa, that is strange how we can look at something and not really realize that we are being drawn to the same things. Your fleu-de-lis are all just gorgeous, and since they are to represent a flower, I think that makes them even more special. My prayers will be with you regarding your upcoming move. Hopefully you will know soon. Hugs, Marty

Regarding your move ~

As a seasoned "traveler," I've learned that no matter how hard you try, the military has a mind of its own. We've had orders, ready to sign on the dotted line for a new home and, at the last minute my husband's orders were changed. I honestly believe that while we don't and can't understand and feel very anxious, it is all planned out above. We have always been taken care of even when it's been a duty station I didn't chose. I hope this helps a little. I completely understand the waiting game and the stress it creates. I wish you the very best!

Sleep well,
Jo

I really dont have any of that in my home..and I really dont seem drawn to anything. I'm kinda of a person that something grabs at the moment.

I cant imagine living like that,,and yes I can see how it would create such havoc. Can you place the home for sale with the option if it sells you can rent it til you know?

You know how I love all of your decor, and the fleur-de-lis are wonderful. They remind me of south Louisiana and New Orleans, for obvious reasons, and I really like them. I've been seeing more of this symbol in home decor stores lately, have you noticed that also? Good luck on your impending move, I know that waiting on orders can be very trying! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, hugs, Kathy

Isn't it funny how we start w/ a theme, and then keep being attracted to those things. I'm kind of like that w/ anything wrought iron. Love your "fleurs"! Any word on your move?

Hi Melissa...what an interesting revelation about your design style... I think that is amazing how one is drawn to certain colors & designs...I probably am also, but I don't know just what they are yet...I'm so glad you discussed the potential move because I have wondered about it, but didn't want to bring it up... whatever happens, I know you'll definitely be blessed by it! ;-) Bo

Hey Melissa. I love all of your fleur-de-lis. I have them all over my apartment! It's so funny. I was just thinking the other day about how many I have. I will have to post them on my blog soon. They don't really have a special meaning to me, I am just drawn to them. I don't know why!

Good luck with the stress of not knowing about your upcoming move. I can only imagine!

I've always loved your front door, and you're right! It does have the fleur de lis! I have used a fleur de lis stencil all over the place in my home. (My son asked me why I was stenciling the Boy Scout symbol everywhere!) There is something about the fleur dis lis that is just so elegant and yet so simple at the same time. Love all of your fleur de lis decor. laurie

Your fleur de lis items are beautiful, Melissa. I love fleur de lis. It is my high school insignia and living in the south being very close to Louisiana, it is a "must have" around the house. When the time comes, I hope you get to sell your house and get enough profit from it. It is a beautiful home and I am sure it will be very hard to let it go...Christine

I have always loved fleur-de-lis. I think we keep favorites in our subconscious and it inspires our choices even when we don't realize it.

I'm sure it is frustrating not knowing exactly when your move will take place. The unknown is always worse than the known. Hang in there and I can't wait to see your new blog design.

Mary / Mariah said...

Thanks , I'm really enjoying your blog . It first started with seeing your name pop up on so many blogs . So I checked it out .
I was drawn to the Miller Name . My grand parents on my dad's side both had Troyer-Miller in them . So when I see the Miller name I wonder . They were from Holmes County , Ohio . I put My Mom's Sprunger- Steiner family pictures on my blog but only my Grandfather Troyer on dad side . I plan to add his side soon .
I really love seeing people decorate their homes and I'm enjoying your's .
Thanks for comeing to my blog .

Thanks, Melissa. To be honest, I don't remember seeing any text when I looked at this post. I did think that was unusual b/c you usually write stuff instead of just posting pictures. I hope you get an answer soon. I could have just missed it b/c I have had company all weekend, but I do remember thinking I wonder why there are no words on this post. Maybe they didn't upload when I looked the 1st time. Hmmm...

I, too, love the fleur de lis symbol, something about it...it's elegant and timeless!
You have found some beautiful pieces with it on them in one shape or another! Isn't it interesting how we are drawn to certain patterns and colors in our decorating and even in our wardrobes?!
Have a fabulous week!

Hi Melissa :)

That crown is absolutely darling! How funny that we notice trends in the way we decorate after we take pictures.

I know the stress you're going through. Rich actually had orders for April, but since we jumped the gun and bought a house they let us move early. Im glad we're friends with the higher ups or we would have been in big trouble LOL

Take a deep breath and know that it'll all work out :)

This was an interesting post. I'll have to look around my own place and see if there is a common theme. (other then dishs & birds) As for moving, I know the feeling. Hubby is waiting for news as well. The first round is March, then May. It doesn't give families much time to get their houses in order if they must sell or lease. Then just because you think you are going somewhere- it gets changed. Turkey turned into South Korea. The Azores ended up Alabama. Mongolia ended up being Illinois.
I never know where we are going!

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the update on your move. I have been thinking of you and wondering how the plans were going. Don't you just love the slow moving wheels of the military? They hold your life in their hands - and everything is a guessing game up until the last second!
I hope for your sake that they give you enough notice to be able to get all your ducks in a row - please let us know how things are progressing! I'm praying that all goes well and that the transition is an easy one!
