Hello Everyone!
It's time for Metamorphosis Monday.
It's hosted by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch.
In March of 06' we moved in our newly built home.
It was so exciting to start the decorating process.
All the pictures are clickable.
I cannot tell you enough how important I think color
and paint are to a space. It's amazing what it can do.
The deep Gold is called Chicory and
Cooper Molero Fandango Red is the warm red.
They both came from Lowes and are no longer in stock.
They both came from Lowes and are no longer in stock.
I checked yesterday since I knew I was going to post this.
Paint colors come and go over the years it seems.
A rug, runner, candles and florals were added.
Here you can really see the paint colors divided by the chair rail.I have been asked if we installed the rail and flooring.
It came standard with our floorplan along with the hardwoods.
The table is from Ebay. The lamps are from Lamps Plus.
All the accessories and mirror are from Kirklands.
It's from the Coronado collection.
I like the look of detaled ceiling medallions.
I bought it at Lowes and it was $20.
Don't forget to paint your ceilings. This color is called Applesauce Cake.
Here's a before and after of our china cabinet. This past week I figured out it had built in plate rails.
It only took me three years to notice them.
Isn't it funny what's right under our noses sometimes?

Hi Melissa,
What a great before and after! Your paint color choices are just perfect for the room. And that ceiling is gorgeous! I had to crack up about the plate rails, it took me a year to realize mine had an indent in the glass shelf meant for plates. So you are not alone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Melissa,
This is a WOW in the first degree, beautiful job! The paint is warm, classy and draws you in. The round mirror gives the space movement and breaks up the vertical lines. Question, did you paint the ceiling medallion? I have one, but have left it white, I go back and forth. Great post, doesn’t get better then this. ~Cathy~
Very pretty room. Great job Girlfriend! Mishelle

Your decorating skills always amaze me! Yes! Paint is a wonderful thing. I love how you've done 2 colors. I let my designer friend talk me out of a chair rail. Now when I see your pictures I wish I had gone for it.
I love the medallion on your ceiling. I really need to look for that at my Lowes.
Great job, as always!
Hello Dearheart...
Just read the sweet note that you left over in my kitchen...Thank you, Sweetie...for all of your complliments! I know, I know...everytime I look at your house...I just giggle at all of the similarities in our choice of colors and design styles! Oooh...so glad that you're showcasing your fabulous dining room for Met Monday!!! It's one of my favorite rooms in your home!!! (I know...I know...I probably say that about every room in your house...hehe!) Loved the "before" photo of the white walls...I'm with you Girl, I just can't believe what a difference that adding paint color to the walls makes! Of course, you've got to know that I love the paint color you chose for your dining room...ahhhh...red & gold! Does it get any better than that? Hehe! I love the chair rails and that gorgeous tray ceiling!!! Your home has some beautiful archectural details!!!

You have a "gifted eye" for decorating and design!!!
Have a marvelous Monday, Sweetie!

You are right about painting the ceilings. Just makes the crown moulding pop when you paint the ceilings. When I first painted mine, LBeau complained that it made the room too dark. I just kept quiet for a while, and he eventually quit complaining.
Hi Melissa, I agree with you, paint does make a difference! Your dining room looks gorgeous as does your whole house! Nancy
Your dining room looks so warm and cosy now!Great job!
Carolyn
What a difference painting the room made! I need to paint mine too! Can't decide on a color!! The colors you chose look awesome! You have have such great taste! and the the room looks so elegant too!
Sherri:)
I just love your decorating style. The red is just wonderful in your dining room. What a gorgeous change you made to that room. Very nice job! Amy :)
Your dining room is stunning. Did you put molding in the tray ceiling? I love the look of it and your colors.
Hi Melissa, Thanks for the info. Most of the medallions I have seen were white and you have to paint them. I hope to get one...soon.
Thanks again,
Leanne
I bet you have a blast with this room over Christmas! Very rich looking.
Mrs. Petrie @ casapetrie.com
I really like the paint color combination in you dining room! It is very rich & elegant.
Hugs,
Carol
I just love all of your decorating details! Always so pretty. I really need to get a few medallions around my light fixtures, but knowing my husband, I will just paint something interesting around them!
I am having my first Mr. Linky party on Thursday, celebrating our childhood bedrooms, I would love to have you there!
~Misti
Love the ceiling. I wish I had ceilings like that. Not so much in CA. Found you on SITS.
Just beautiful! Everything goes together perfectly, even the ceiling! :O) Mary @ Boogieboard Cottage
Lovely room -- we, too, paint ceilings -- our only white ceiling is in the kitchen! Love the red and gold combination and I also like important chandeliers -- in any room!
Everything blends in so beautifully... with the richness in color and decor. Each accent compliments the next. I enlarged every photo to see it all.
I'm glad I did. There's a lot to behold. It's a stunning difference.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Wow! Fabulous post -- what an amazing difference the warm and strong colors make in your dining room. I love that red, AND the name of it!
Gorgeous room -- love the round mirror especially; I love unusual mirrors.
I also like the painted ceiling. Colors on a ceiling are great. When we moved here, there were so many color decisions to make, that I just had the ceilings painted slightly off-white. Oh well. Next time!
Thanks for visiting my blog! Cass
What a lovely blog you have. Thank you so much for stopping by. I am truely honored by your visit!
There is so much to see and admire here that I will be back often. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

It doesn't even look like the same room. You did an incredible job with the paint and decorating! I love the chair rail with the 2 tones of paint. Such a classy look.
I hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday!
I love color and the difference it made in your room is glorious!..The ceiling treatment is out of this world girl and I have never thought to do medallions but I am seeing alot of them lately...adds so much to the light fixture! Girl I can't believe you hadn't done the plates on the wall thingy yet! lol Ohhhh I wanted so bad to hang my new plates over my black mantle in the living room...but just as I was holding one up on the wall Bill walked in and did the hand over the heart like Fred Sandford having a heart attack....I said 'don't you think these are perfect here!!' He (turning white as a ghost)replied 'Hon..it's the living room...you gotta dishes on every wall in the house...not the living room too!' lol So because I do so adore him I decided to let the living room alone (for now)DID I JUST TYPE THAT! lol lol Your room is gorgeous girl...your whole house is like a beautiful magazine....thanks for coming by and I hope you are having a great week!
I love the names of your paint colors Melissa! "Fandango Red"sounds so full of life and "Applesause Cake" sounds so yummy.

Hi Melissa, thanks for checking out my laundry room. It was empty forever. I just recently hung the pictures and got a really cute leapard rug the other day. My washer and dryer are old! The washer has been making a noise for 2 yrs. now. I'll just wait until it goes out to get new ones. Just e-mail me sometime about the frames. I do have a few more I need to post. I have just been so darn busy with the yard lately. The patio and fire pit are both built. Kevin took off work Wed. and hauled in 3 tons of crusher dust and sand. It took alot more than he thought! Next is the stone walkway, furniture, and landscaping. That's AFTER we haul off all the dirt!lol....talk to you soon, Kristen
Good morning Melissa :)
Your dining room is beautiful! It truly is amazing what color can do and you created a wonderful place to enjoy a long evening with company at your table or a romantic evening with your husband. VERY nice :)

Hello Dearheart...
Just read your sweet note! Girl, after reading everyones comments about the little music box being for powder I just had to go and check it out! hi Melissa! I was just awarded a Top Fav's button today and had to nominate 10 other bloggers of which you are one. I'd love for you to stop by and pick up your award button. Thank you. Have a great weekend!
Hi Melissa,
I just saw your comment at Chari’s that you’re under the weather. I feel for you, allergies are no fun. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Cathy
I won't tell! I'll just steal a PB cookie when you're not looking...
And beware the Cookie Stealing Bunny! He's pretty hungry since not much baking has been going on here--Ben's on a diet!
You have beautiful style and class! I inadvertantly deleted my following. I definitely enjoy your lovely posts. I will continue to follow. Thanks for helping me be aware. Have a lovely weekend. ☼
Melissa, I posted about the Top 10 Fav's on Saturday's post. I just re-posted what was given me but feel free to make any changes to suit YOU! It is the cutest lil' ladybug isn't it? Thanks for being such a sweet blogger and for having such an awesome blog! Have a great weekend!
Found you on another blog and had to visit when I saw that USMC uniform, chickee! Hubs is a retired Marine, son is a former Marine and brother-in-law retired recently from Marines.
Darling blog, sweetpea. Darling decorating also. I love Pachelbel in Canon D but I've never heard that rendition before and think it's a refreshing variation.
Nice to meet you, sugar!
xoxo,
Connie
Melissa, forgot to mention that hubs' brother is a professor at the War College in Carlisle, PA. He retired as a colonel last summer, took off his uniform, put on a suit and continued teaching there - with substantial pay increase(!) - and a couple of other colleges. My email is on my profile page if you want to email privately. I'll give you our last name privately if you want to ask your hubby if he knows him. He's from Penn. and has been stationed all over the world, Calif. and N.C. also I believe. Just maybe your hubs knows him.
xoxo,
Connie
Wow! That is one beautiful transformation and a true testament to what color can do for a room! Love the ceiling and the paint accents! ~hugs, Rhonda :)
Beautiful! Love the color combination!
Your home is really lovely. I like the colors in your dining room. The gold ceiling turned out great. I have 2 of those iron headers, but I want to get another one or two. We have a Kirklands here. I love that store.
