Porch & Patio Party

Hello Everyone!
Our porch is ready for summer with the cheerful geraniums.
Our japanese maple is looking fuller than ever.
The spiral urns are from the Home Decorators catalog.
A garden flag and a power washing completed the spruce up.
Look at this huge boston fern. It's doubled in size.
The flower is called fuschia and they attract hummingbirds.
I usually have no luck with flowers but they are doing well.
A close up of the fuschia. Isn't it pretty and vibrant?
The red geraniums close up.
Now this hosta plant is a mystery to me.
Every summer the deer eat them all.
Then in the fall I just cover the stems with mulch.
And then this is the result. I can't believe it!
Let's visit the covered back deck now.
This is our relaxing outdoor furniture from Sams Club.
I added some new throw pillows from Target.
Sage green outdoor rug is from Ballards.
Swivel rockers complete the set.
A gurgling outdoor fountain sounds soothing.
My deep purple petunias are thriving.
Another boston fern in a black urn.
We recently stained the deck in redwood.
The hanging ferns are called kimberly queens.
This is the first year we have hung them up.
I'm really enjoying their classic southern style.
They make me think of sweet tea.
Another view from the yard.
We added a new hummingbird feeder and it is neat to see them eat.
They are so cute.
Have a great week!

Love your porch, Melissa. I love spring. But hate all the insects that come with it. We're dealing with fire ants and carpenter bees...oh and wasps too.

Melissa, Your porch and deck look wonderful. I have spant the last three days planting. Niw, it's raining just in time for the porch party. LOL Oh, well. I'll post again later. I love your green rug. I have very similar furniture on our deck. Your plants are doing great. I love the planter with the purple petunia's. I have a beautiful fushia, too! The hummingbirds haven't arrived here yet. Your ferns are so pretty. I think your thumbs are turning green. Hugs, Terrie

Your porches are just beautiful, and I'm jealous of all of your pretty flowers. I always have good intentions with my potted flowers, but as the summer heat wears on, I somehow fail to keep up with the watering.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who can't keep the deer out of the hostas.

I found you too late for the give-a-way...maybe next time! Everything looks so wonderful! Your ferns are so green and pretty. I cannot have them on my porch...we get way too much sun! I'm just starting to get everything out and we still have cool weather.

Kristens Creations said...

Hi Melissa, everything looks beautiful!! Love your patio furniture and pillows. Your ferns are soooo lush! I just bought that same hummingbird feeder the other day at Lowe's. I thought it was so pretty and unique. We think alike! I wanted to post the new patio tonight but it has rained almost all day and it's just soaked in mud,I'll post it next week. I love your gift from Cathy! How pretty! I meant to e-mail you back (so sorry) whenever you want to order is just fine. Talk to you soon, Kristen

Oh I am so jealous!! Your porch looks amazing!! I have been trying to work on mine lately, but it won't stop raining. I still have two beds to complete in the front and then I plan on painting a lot of the furniture. Our front porch area is a lot smaller, but I know it has a lot of potential. I want it to be welcoming like yours even if it is on a smaller scale. I love your ferns!! Everything looks so inviting!!!! :)

Oh, what a beautiful porch...and the flowers are all just lovely.
I will get some ferns for my porch as soon as I can...your's look great. Out here in hot, dry West Texas, we have a hard time keeping our plants looking pretty. We don't have humming birds here..wish we did.
Oh, and the cookie am MUST HAVE for me, too. I love it...

Kristens Creations said...

I can't believe you have the same cushions! lol...Lowe's again! I've been there a million times in the past few weeks. Glad it's close!

Stacey said...

Hi Melissa! I just saw your sweet message. I want to join the porch party and had planned to. However, it's been raining here for seriously off and on for 7 days. It's totally soggy here. Not too inspiring when it comes to the porch. I guess I'll be a late comer on that one.

I have a metal wall pocket "thingy" that I hang on my front door using a door hanger. I put real plants in it and it comes out gorgeous!

susette said...

Oh this is gorgeous. Would you please, please, please tell me what brand of stain you used for your deck? It looks so good. I need to go with a tried, true and trusted source.

Melissa, what a gorgeous porch and deck! Oh, and everything looks so lovely and CLEAN ... don't laugh, but everything's muddy here, so I have serious clean-stuff envy going on!

LOVE the ferns. I will be hanging them from our porch roof this year, too ... they just grow like MAD over the summer.

Aren't fuschias just the wildest, most over-the-top flowers? Can they get any splashier? Love them -- but watch out they attract plant insects, at least in this climate. Gorgeous preview for summer for this northerner!

I just happened across your site and thought your home was beautiful. So I had to look further. Our houses are very similar. You've done a wonderful job. I have a back deck but it's not covered so I feel like it's not very neat and clean like yours is. And our weather in PA isn't quite where yours is yet, so I don't even have flowers yet. I was tickled by your surprise of getting flowers to grow- the porch on the house we have for sale gets very hot NC sun and I could not get flowers to grow for the life of me. I finally bought some hanging baskets with the coconut husk lining and put fake hanging baskets in them from Wal Mart. I got so many compliments from the neighbors and we never had more hummingbirds visit than when those things were up! Seriously, I almost cringe when someone gives me a live plant- the responsibility of it almost overwhelms me! I'm having fun looking around your blog! Wish I would have known about it while we were up the road from you!
