Basket & Blessings

Hello Everyone!
It's time for another Wall Wednesday.
Have you visited Grits and Glamour?
Pay her a visit to see all the other participants.
Does the front door count as a wall?
Here is a basket I found at Kirklands.
I had been searching for just the right item.
I added a faux red fern for no fuss.
The live fern in the corner is even larger now.
I think we are going to have to name it.
I also wanted to share with you the
big key I have in the entrance foyer.
I found it at BB& Beyond.
I wonder why they are so popular now?
Does anyone know the story on them?
Upstairs in the hallway I added a fleur de lis plate.
I'm thinking about painting this niche area an
accent color and adding shelves to it for display.
What do you think? Any other ideas?
I have never known quite what to do to this spot. Here is a close up of the plate. It's also from Kirklands.
I picked up this sign at Kirklands.
It's hanging by the door to remind us before we leave.
I may change out the ribbon to leopard print.
Have a wonderful week!

Melissa - your door basket is perfect for WOYWW! It's also the perfect Frenchie basket. I love your little plate, too. I am not sure if you are a fan of wallpaper - but for some reason I can envision a pretty paper in your nook. Have you seen the paper with the French Script writing? I think if you added a larger floral arrangement which is taller, it would be lovely. But you are very good at accessorizing so I'm sure you will figure something awesome out. Thanks for joining in this week's WOYWW. Hugs, Barb

ps - we have something in common. I also collect and love keys. I have several of them in my real estate office. :-)

I love the door bucket. I have one on my front door and just love decorating it every season.
happy whats on your wall.
I hope you stop by to see what I have hanging

Michelle@Fromhousetohome said...

How cute, a fish named after Southpark, too funny! Everything looks great, your front entrance is so welcoming.

I'm not sure what the story is about the keys but I have a large key my mom just gave me. It has some glue stuck to it that I have to get off, then I'm going to spray paint and hang it up. My mom gave me a key necklace when I was in high school. It was to serve as a reminder that I was the key to my own happiness. Ever since then, the key has become a special symbol between my mom and I. She had the large key on her wall for years and just passed it along to me. I need to find a special place for it. :)

I hope your week is going well! I can't believe it is Wednesday already, this week is flying for me.

Hi Melissa, I have a key over my front door similar to yours......is there a story to keys other than "let's think of a new decorating element to spice things up?".....LOL. Something new for Hobby lobby and Kirklands to sell! ;)
Your house is lovely. Did you see what Sarah at Thrifty Decor chick did with the area similar to yours? She "paneled" it out.....of sorts. Maybe if you ask her she'll direct you to the post she did on it.....have a good day!

Lisa said...

It looks lovely Melissa!

We have a basket out our front door with some spring daisies. I've decided it's much easier to replace the flowers than to make a new wreath every season.

All of your accessories are perfect - I love your house. :)

Good morning Melissa! WHat a pretty and very unique basket that is on your front door! I love it!

That nook is really a neat addition to your home. What about another shelf or 2 added and then the inverted corner painted a pretty accent color to make all the pretties displayed there pop??

Nancy said...

Hi Melissa, Your door decor is beautiful and I love the upstairs corner...I think I would paint it an accent color. It would make that little corner POP. Love Southpark too...how cute! Hope you are having a great week! Nancy

Melissa, the arrangment on the front door is stunning; and the colors you use are so beautiful.
I would do a different color in that little nook. It will really make those awesome accessories of yours pop. I like the idea of the french script writing I have seen this and it is so pretty.

Melissa, everytime I visit I get inspired to do some decorating inside and out! The patio areas are so relaxing and they call to me since we spend so much time outdoors at my house. Your plants are thriving, so beautiful!

I'm not sure about the official key meaning but it could be the key to unlocking the secrets of life.

Plus, I am currently reading a book called The Fetch, which uses a key on the front cover to represent the key to life and death.

Just a couple ideas.

And how'd you hang the basket on the glass?

Jules said...

I love the key on the wall in the foyer from B,B&B! It looks so nice. All of your plants (real and faux) are lovely :)

Your front door with the new basket is fabulous!!!! And yes, I say it counts as a wall. And while we are at it, I say your fish aquarium counts too. It's up against the wall, so it is wall decoration. Plus I showed stuff that technically isn't on the wall too. You have a lovely house.

Diane @ Four Paws and Co said...

Great door basket Melissa! I wish we had a Kirklands. Love the fish tank. ☺ Diane

April said...

I'm into big keys, too. I have no idea if there's a story behind them or not, but I sure love how they look! Isn't Kirkland's just the greatest? You can find all sorts of great stuff there! I still stand in amazement at your decorating skills.

Oh Melissa you are the sweetest!
That was so kind of you to mention me on your blog and to share your friends.

I love skeleton keys both real and wall decor. I haven't a clue on the story behind them other than it may be just a fad. I have one that holds are car keys.

The aquarium is too cute AND Carmen! LOL

Your nook would look lovely painted an accent color. I have seen them with mirrored tiles or same color with trim molding but check out Old Barn Rescue on etsy, they do lovely scroll work with either words or pictures. www.oldbarnrescuecompany.etsy.com

Have fun, enjoy your day and THANK YOU so much!

Ps: Your front door looks awesome!

Oh Melissa, what a gorgeous frenchy basket you found for the front door. We have a metal door and I have been trying to figure out how to hang something on it. I will have to look for the command hooks, that sounds perfect. Yours is just beautiful and so welcoming. I also love the key, but I don't know the story either. Your niche is just lovely with the way you have it decorated, but I do think painted an accent color and with shelves would look fabulous. What a great idea. Hope you have a great Memorial Day. I will especially remember you and your DH for all your sacrifice and service to our country. God Bless. Hugs, Marty

Your home is so lovely. You have a real knack with decorating and color.

Enjoyed your blog today !

The Stylish House said...

Your door with the pretty basket looks striking. I am glad you used a hidden hook. I also have a glass front door and use an oversized plastic suction cup made to hold heavy objects. I think it might be the same as yours. It does a great job and doesn’t bang on the glass the way a brass over the door hook would. Everything is lovely, that nook is a bit tricky maybe you could trim out the edges with some nice decorative molding. It looks perfectly fine the way it is, but I am giving a suggestion since you asked. I would have been over earlier but my computer kept kicking me off several blogs, but it seems to be better tonight.

Joyce said...

Your door basket is nice and I wish I had one too. I looked back at your posts and I really like your added drapes by your table. I think it adds a bit of warmth to the room and it was nice that you could use the new drapes with the existing valance. I need new drapes but I need so many (12 panels) to cover 3 huge sliding doors that are in the same area. I need to rob a bank to pay for them:)

Thank you so much for stopping by earlier!!! I appreciate all the prayers for little Connor. It is not looking good for him!!! I feel so for his family!!! This has been a long road for them!!!

Hello Dearheart...

Ohhh my...I just realized that I've been missing you, my friend! What have you been up to lately? I see that you're still busy decorating your home's exterior...I just love your new plant basket/box that you added to your front door! The moment I seen it, I giggled...it's sooo you, Sweetie!!! Ohhh...and it's so "me" too! Hehe!!! I love the frenchiness of it and that it's unique...not the same ol' door baskets that we've been seeing around (of course they're pretty and I like them too!) The red looks so pretty against your black door!!! I love, love, LOVE IT!!!

Love all of your new wall art too! Girl, I don't have any keys! Hehe!!! I love yours!!! I don't know what the story is on them either...but I've seen a few at Hobby Lobby! Girl, I can't wait to go to Texas...besides getting to see me girls and grandkids...I get to go to Kirklands! Yeeehawww! I used to shop there all the time when I lived down there! Your fleur de lis plate is just gorgeous...but then, I bet you knew I would say that..hehe!

Hmmm...I was reading Barb's comment about your niche and I love her idea! I think a pretty French script wallpaper would be beautiful in your niche! It would be so overpowering against the solid colored walls! I do love your floral arrangement there...sooo pretty!!! Love your new "Count Your Blessings" plaque too! It's pretty as is but I could just see it with a leopard print ribbon!!!

Well Sweetie, here we are and it's Friday! Russell has a 3 day weekend with the holiday...I think we'll be busy with all that's coming up for us! Do ya'll have plans?

Have a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend, Darlin'!

hi sweetie.yes,Roo did snuggle with me.we trained him when he was a baby to sit on this pillow by us on the bed.of course the pillow had to grow also quite a bit.
he takes naps with dad almost every day.i don't take naps usually.but i sleep with a body pillow.
he would come to the bedroom door and crow and try to get me to come and open it.i didn't even know the door was there.let alone him.ha
so his dad would let him come in and he would come and lay by me on the top of my body pillow and i would lay my arm over him.he would sit there until dad made him get up or i got up.you see he is quite a child,or dog or maybe a cross.he isn't real sure what he is.ha.but whatever he is,he does love us.
and he adores his new sister.he had never met her.his older sister,(my oldest daughter)is a dog person.she could cares less about my birds or Roo.only that mom loves them.but deb is so much like me.he follows her every step until dad gets home.Usually he follows my every step.but he gets bored with my sitting so much.now he can finally get some exercise.ha
thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and love.i felt every bit if it...ann

The basket looks so pretty on your front door, I just love that wonderful store!! The key you found is great; I have been looking for some smaller ones to put in a shadow box. I do not know the story behind them, but I think they are such a fun decoration to use. I have seen them a Kirkland’s for years, with a pretty ribbon attached to them. I wish I had purchased them!

I think it would be great to paint the niche & add shelving to it. Just think of all the great stuff you could put on the shelves….I love the Count Your Blessings sign, especially since I do every single day!! Leopard ribbon would be pretty on it.
