Garage Floor Paint Treatment

Hello Everyone!
We built our home over three years ago and have been
planning to redo our garage floor with a paint treatment.
This was one of those projects that kept getting
postponed or just forgotten about until now.
Finally my hubby did the floor this weekend.
He really enjoyed doing this project.
Do you have this treatment done on yours?
Does it wear well?
We are thrilled with the result!
Join me on the tour.
Before. A plain concrete garage floor.
Before view from outside.
This is what we used. They had so many to chose from.
This treatment is from Lowes and comes in many colors.
We decided the gray was the best for our home.
My hubby rolling on the base color.
You can see how it's changing the look already.
Adding the colorful sprinkles.
Here it was this morning.
Can you see the changes?
I think it looks fresh and clean.
A close up of the sprinkle colors.
The entire view from the driveway.
Another view.
I know our garage is really empty.
I have a phobia about cluttered garages.
I am constantly pitching stuff out that we don't use.
Sometimes I look for things later I threw away.
Here is the storage side of the garage.
The stainless armoire is from Home Depot.
The red tool chest is from Sears.
In my previous post I showed your our
messy crepe myrtle tree. It needed cleaning.
Some of you suggested trimming the bottom out.
Here is the end result with a new mulch ring as well.
Thank you to my blog friends for your ideas.
Have a wonderful week!

Garage looks wonderful. We have been in our house 13yrs and I think we would have to move out way too much "stuff" to even begin the process. But, I would love too,

Hi Melissa, Your garage is unbelieveable!! I'm soooo jealous! Even your fridge is nice. Your hubby did a great job on the floor. Our garage is embarrassing, I hate when the door is up,lol...Kevin does not care what it looks like at all and it drives me crazy! Some one just gave him a fridge and it has no handles!! It should have been taken to the dump!!LOL! Your lucky your hubby takes pride in your garage! Great post! Kristen

Love it!! I love a garage that is clean and actually used to park the cars. Never understood why most garages are used for storage - that is what my little outdoor shed is for. He did a great job, you have got a good man there, Melissa.

Oh Melissa, I have never seen such a beautiful garage floor. My husband would be very impressed to say the least.

Hi Melissa,

Your garage floor has turned out well and it will be so much easier to sweep and keep clean.
Your myrtle tree is lovely.

Have a great week

Melissa- just look at that great floor and wow- a clean garage!! WIll mine ever look like that!!!???? OUr garage has a tiny issue in that when it rains alot the water floods if the drainage ditch has not been cleaned out or if too much stuff has floated down and clogs it! Bill and neighbor are out every time it rains to keep the thing from flooding our garage and their basement!!

Tara G. said...

Melissa, the garage looks fabulous! What a transformation! Your crepe myrtle is looking good! I think they are such pretty plants! I planted a natchez in my front yard in NC and was so upset with Mr. YH because he pruned it down so far- I wanted it to be a tree, not a bush. I teased him that it was crepe murder!!

Your garage floor came out great! Love the speckles! Great job!

That looks soooo good! Hmmm....I wonder if DH would like a new project! :)

imjacobsmom said...

I hope your hubby etched the garage floor according to directions before he applied the floor covering. If not it will wear and peel. I know someone that applied that coating, but chose to skip that step and now it is wearing away. Yours turned out beautifully and I have to say that it's the neatest garage out there! ~ Robyn

Love this! DH has been wanting to do this for years, but it may take us 10 years to clear out the garage first lol. Stay in touch with that "clutter fear", it's a GOOD thing! I do love the way this turned out, may consider this project if it ever cools down! Kathy

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions said...

That looks great, Melissa! We had painted our garage floor gray {10 years ago}, but I really like the "sprinkles" on yours. Did your hubby feel it was an easy enough job?

I've done that - where I've thrown something out and then go looking for it a year later.

Cheri Peoples said...

Love the floor.

We lived in McKinney Texas for awhile and they have crepe myrtles everywhere. They keep the bottoms trimmed up, way more than you did even and as they continue to grew they look like a pretty flowering tree compared to a bush. I fell in love with crepe myrtles down there.

Manuela@Pleasures of Homemaking said...

Your garage floor looks great! I wish I could clear my garage out enough to do something like that LOL!

"Blossom" said...

The floor looks awesome. That is something we might just do in my husbands barn floor. The tree looks so great too.

Joycee said...

This is such an improvement and I can't wait to show it to my husband. Ours will be a huge job, we are not neat and store so many things in our garages. We just built a boat locker so maybe some of the summer stuff can get moved out. We've had the kids here the past two weeks with little time to blog other than post, I've missed it!

Kelly B said...

I used to have the same phobia about garages... in fact I still do. Sadly, mine is so chaotic and cluttered right now I am afraid to go out there. You never realize how much room kids can take up... but as soon as it cools off a bit and we can paint, I will organize the garage. I love the floor idea. I really want to do that to our garage, too. Thanks!! :)

Oh Melissa, I have missed you too. I have been so busy, just got back from vacation last week and trying to catch up with all kinds of needed projects and cleaning. Seems like things really need a lot of attention when ignored for a couple of weeks. I love your garage floor. Ours is such a mess, I really need for you to come throw everything out and organize it. You guys are always doing such great projects. I would love to have a garage that wonderful. Thanks again for checking on me. I appreciate it. Hugs, Marty

Hi Melissa, Your garage floor turned out fantastic. I love it. I am crazy for a clean straight garage too. We also painted our floor 13 years ago. It does not have the sprinkle colors, but we love it. Every few years we do have to repaint to freshen it up. but that's okay it is so worth it for us. I can wash it down too when dirty and I like that.

Love your Crepe Myrtle. They are all in bloom here too.
Enjoy your new floor and thanks for sharing your project results.
Have a great week.

Seriously, is it possible to be drooling over a garage floor?! I LOVE it! It's like a brand new garage! Of course, the chances of getting my husband to do this are slim to none. Guess I'll just have to keep coming back here to swoon!

Linda Q said...

Looks great, tell hubby he did a nice job! Really finishes it off well. And you would hate our garage, even I hate it , it is more of a storage unit than a garage. But I am working on that.No one every helps me, so I have to whittle it down on my own.
I want to get my craft/larger laundry room built out of part of it eventually!!

When I read the title of your post I KNEW what I was going to see. I absolutely love this floor treatment and am always impressed when I see it in a listing (I'm a realtor.) I've been trying to get my husband to do it for years but he says it's too much work to clean out the garage. Maybe I'll sit him down in front of yoru post so he can really see the effect.

Karen said...

Great job on the garage floor. We painted ours instead of using an apoxy and don't like how it turned out. Yours should wear well for a really, really long time.
Gosh your garage is empty! My husband has a fetish about his garage too. But, we still have "stuff". the "one car" side is his Harley garage. I actually looks cute. (don't tell him I said that.) I've kind of fixed it up, bought him a Harley Davidson pub table and stools, and the Harley ceiling fan. He mounted a flat screen tv and it's kinda of a "guy" hang out. What is it with men that they like to congregate in the garage?
Great job. Loved this post!

Hi Melissa
My hubby wants to do that to his garage as soon as they are finished fixing our home. The water damage was in the garage too so drywall is being replaced, whole garage repainted and since it will be cleaned out (for once) hubby is going to paint the floor. Yours looks great! Was it easy to do??

Morgan said...

My husband and I did that to our garage floor back in May and we absolutely love it!

Becky said...

Painting the garage floor was the very first project we did when we moved into this house eight years ago. My husband was thinking it was about time to do it again; however, my son and I cleaned out the garage one day when he was at work. I didn't feel like redoing the paint job, but we did wash the floor. That's all it needed and the repainting got crossed off the list! You'll love it, especially with the "sprinkles" :)

Becca said...

Hey Melissa !! I LOVE your garage floor ... wonderful transformation !! And, I must admit that we have the same grey floor, too (except we had a New York Yankees emblem painted smack dab in the middle of the floor). :) I'll show pics sometime. As always, great job !! Hugs, Becca
