Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the doors of welcome event.
This is hosted by the lovely Karen at
Pay her a visit to view more participants.
I have recently shown you our front door on my
fall mum post so I thought I would show you the
most frequently used door in our home.
It's the side entry garage door.
We park in here so it just works better for us.
Here is an M doormat I found at Kirklands.
I recently added the "Welcome" sign
that I purchased from Lynette's Etsy shop.
The large metal vase and ting are from Kirklands.
We will be painting the railing white this weekend.
Isn't blogging the best way to make you
realize what should have been done already?
Has this happened to you all before?
in the small laundry nook off the kitchen.
What do you do when you have such a
small area? Decorate up a storm right!
I have so much decor' wall art in here.
I found the pear wreath at Marshalls, the
topper at our local pottery store and the
tuscan style mirror at Kirklands.
The colors did not show up well in the photo.
It's a sage green, gold and a deep plum.
healthy lifestyle changes over the past six weeks.
Everything is going fantastic and I feel better.
Pounds lost 17! B/P 105/71
Many of you have asked what I'm eating to lose the
weight so I thought I would show you one example.
Dinner this evening was a spinach salad
topped with lean steak and fresh veggies.
We used Mrs Dash and the GF grill to cook it.
My one year blogging anniversary is coming soon!
Stay tuned for a very "Thankful" giveaway.
If you would like to follow along on my blog then
now is a good time. You don't want to miss it!

Your dinner looks so yummy. I have totally fallen off the healthy eating wagon. Have to get control.
Yours is the first "door" post I've seen. I'm anxious to check the rest out when they post.
I like the brick steps leading up to the door. Pretty fancy for a garage entrance!!

That's your garage entry??? I'm ashamed to even think of mine just looking at yours ~ and we use ours all the time too! Love your "M" mat; I don't think I've ever seen anything like that here. That salad looks pretty good. Being gluten free, I've gotten pretty good at making salads into a good meal. You're doing so well, Melissa!
Congrats on the weight loss. I really need to get in my salads. Can't get into them for the winter months--yes it feels like winter here already. Thanks so much for sharing your meals :-)

Melissa, I'm so impressed that even your entry from the garage is inviting and welcoming. Let's face it, most of us ignore that area and yours is just as pretty as the rest of your home. You really never cease to amaze me with the way you keep your home. And congrats on the weight loss! You're doing a fantastic job and I'm so happy that you have the BP under control. That steak looks YUMMY! Don't you just love Mrs. Dash? Have a great week. Kathy

Melissa...what a treat to come home to your welcoming "private" entrance. I am not at all surprised that it is as beautiful as the rest of your home.
I am so impressed with the progress you are making with your new healthy routine...great job.
I am planning on showing a little bit more of my home in some upcoming posts. I have been wanting to share my family room...as you did...it is the place where we spend the most time...and it is my favorite room.
Stay tuned;)!!!
Have a wonderful evening!!!
XOXO
Cathy
I love the lettering on your door and the fact that you decorated your laundry room. And the second I saw your post I was wondering where you were going to put the "M". The mat was the perfect place. My grand daughters are named Mackenzie and Megan, we call them the M&M girls. Gotta find a few letter for their rooms now.
wow! i SOOO wish we had a kirklands here!! congrats on your weight loss; i need to go back to eating more salad!! yours looked yummy:)
Melissa I'm so proud of you with your new healthy life style!! 17 lbs - super!! The salad looks great- I can live on soup and salads- never have been much of a meat eater.
The entry way looks so very pretty! I am still trying to figure out what to do with mine- you walk in the back door and there are stairs to the basement or stairs up to the kitchen- the little space you walk into is only maybe 4 x 6! Makes for a challenge!

Can you come to my house and decorate it? Please??????
I'm on a diet too and know how hard it is so kudos....well done.
Love your decorating.....who decorates their garage entry door? You do and you are amazing.
Have you always been gifted and talented with decorating?
Any tips for people who have a fear of, well, just about anything to do with decorating from choosing paint colors, picking a style, etc.
Love your blog....love it!!!!
Melissa,
Way to go on changing your eating habits...could you send me some of your will power?!
Warmly,
Deb :)
Your garage door looks so inviting - I've been picking up ideas myself - blogging is so good - no, make that great for ideas that you can incorporate (or just plain steal/copy) however you want to look at it ;-) !!
Great job on the lifestyle change - keep up the good work!
Congratulations, Melissa for loosing so much weight! That's fantastic!
Now your entries are so nice. Your entire home is so beautiful and you really know how to decorate.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What a delicious, healthy looking salad Melissa! I'm so happy for you on your weight loss and great B/P... you go girl!!
Love all your pretties at your entry, especially love the "M" mat!

Hugs,
Sherri:)

You're home is so pretty - even the garage door & laundry!
Hi Melissa!
Your entry is so welcoming. I love the door hanger and embellishment above your door, very pretty. Congrats on your continued weight loss. I need to do the same. You are truly inspiring me with not only your decorating skills, but your determination to eat healthier. =)
Thanks for sharing! *Hugs* ~Liz
Hi Melissa, Your house always looks soooooooo beautiful! I have to say that you inspire me to get my fall stuff out and decorate. I have to tell you that I have lost 12 lbs! I am going for 8 more and I will feel so much better about things! It just feels so good to put on a pair of pants that use to be oh so tight and now they are loose or too big! I have been walking up a storm too! Good Luck with your continued weight loss and I promise to get my fall stuff out this weekend. (Working full time and working out makes it hard to also decorate!) HAHAHA

It's wonderful to hear your good health news, Melissa! Kudos to you for losing weight so fast! I eat healthy and walk miles every day yet my stubborn pounds just don't want to melt away...it may have something to do with my age...but I'm not giving in to that ;-)
Your blog is always such a beautiful and gracious place to visit, as I'm sure is your home.
I'm looking forward to your give away! I have one planned soon too!
Melissa, I don't have your email address to send you instructions about the monogram. Send me an email please Jersey9@aol.com

You have a beautiful garage entry, I have also found that I find lots of problem areas everytime I take a picture, so I have been taking pictures, posting them to computer so I can try to correct my mistakes. Congrats on the weight loss.

Melissa, love your garage entry! We simply must decorate those areas:) Congrats on the weight loss and lower blood pressure stats! I use Mrs. Dash to season everything and love it:)
P.S. Where do you find all your lovely iron toppers? No rush...just whenever you have a free moment. I need some and can't find them.
What a wonderful welcome home Melissa! Awesome weight loss and BP doing alot better! Curious what does your day start with eating and are you allowed in between foods? I know I'd feel better if I could find a normal diet but I have two opposite belly issues and it makes it so difficult to please both! Hugs to Chestnut, Lori
Lovely Welcome!! Your house is so pretty!
Good for you and your healthy eating...it really does feel better when you are feeding your body right. I wish I could be a bit more disciplined like you :-)
I have to admit that I've never thought about decorating the entry from our garage. Thanks for the inspiration. Your doors of welcome look great! Also, FAB job on your health journey! Your salad just made me hungry! Check out my blog when you get a chance, I left you an award. Happy Friday!

Jane
Wow, you have some comments:) Thank you for stopping by and leaving sweet comments about my door of welcome! Yours is gorgeous. I can't wait to look back thru your blogs and get to know you. Have a blessed day!
I love your wreath!
Oh I love how you prettied up your garage entrance! It makes sense to have it be welcoming so you can enjoy it. After all, how often do we use our front doors? We don't have an attached garage but we use our back door most of the time, and I spend all my time making the front welcoming. Makes no sense!
That dinner looks yummy! I could get used to a diet like that. Congrats on your progress, does this mean we get to see an updated picture??
~Michelle
You have a beautiful home and I wish you could decorate mine.
Your dinner looks so tasty and nice presentation.
Have a beautiful day!

Good for you! I wish I could say I'd lost that much weight. And your bp is in wonderful range. Your home just glows with love.

Wow brick stairs in the garage is a treat as most are just wood here inside the garages. Your entrance looks wonderful. I do love to find things at Kirkland. Now the weight loss is super especially before the crazy holidays start. A good healthy head start on 2010 diet craze in January. I forget if you read my battle of the buldge post last week. It may make you laugh and keep you motivated:)

What a lovely home!! Watch out Martha Stewart!
Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment.
Melissa,
You will never know how much you inspire me. Not just with your lovely home and your new healthy lifestyle, but also with your beautiful spirit that comes through with every post. I read each one of them and go over the photos many times.
I am starting a new business---Tea and Roses. I have been giving adult tea parties for a few years, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and holidays with tea and fellowship. It has turned out to be something I really enjoy and it feeds my spirit as well. I have started a new blog (in addition to Graceful Moments) to display photos, recipes, ideas for celebrations, etc. It is still in the developmental stages but should be fully up and running in about a week. The blog address in www.teandroses.blogspot.com. I hope you will visit from time to time and share your comments and ideas with me.
Please know that you are a continual blessing to all of us who follow your lovely blog. May God's richest blessings be yours today.
In Grace,
Marie
Wow, love your blog. You have a lovely home! Just popped in from the party. Hugz, Z
Your dinner looked great and your home is beautiful! I'm visiting from SITS and I'm also a military wife. Glad I stopped by!
Melissa~ You're my inspiration! I'm slowly but surely reclaiming my health and exercise life style.
It is so nice to see through your accomplishment, you've taken the DIE out of DIE-it. Changing what we eat doesn't have to lack luster, your dinner looked very tasty.
Most of us make several trips in a day through our garages. They should give an inviting welcome too. My garage entrace looks like a place where old coats and yard shoes go to die. I'm going to rethink that whole entrance.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Hi Melissa!
Thank you for sharing which camera you use...it's a good one! I just got a new camera and I don't like my pictures nearly as well as yours. =)
Guess what I did yesterday? I copied you. *blush* I was shopping at Kirkland's and bought the same monogrammed floor mat as you, except with the letter R. I love it. Kirkland's also had the cutest lamps with monogrammed letters on them, so I bought one of those as well.
Just stopped in to say...HI! *hugs*
Liz
Melissa,
Only you could make a garage entry look that beautiful, warm and inviting!
Now that I'll be home, I have to finish the garage floor and get to painting and decorating my home. You always inspire me with your decorating.
Hugs,
Angela
Love the topper & wreath hanger. Don't know where you found that wreath hanger, but it is gorgeous!
Congrats on the healthy eating! It does make such a difference, doesn't it?!
Your entry way is gorgeous!
Hey!! Congrats on your weight loss!! That is incredible! I feel so motivated to do the same by just reading what you wrote. I remember reading your post when you first started your weight loss venture. You and I chatted a bit about the struggles with weight. (I was the one who wrote the blog post about "sinking in the sand and the big sandhill"). I know you have a ton of blog traffic ;) sooo, you may not remember. BUT I AM happy to hear about your progress, it's amazing.
Also, I LOVE LOVE those brick steps that lead up to your door. What a welcoming little area.
AND, I signed up for your giveaway today and did a comment about being a follower. You said you couldn't see me...you were RIGHT! lol...no, it wasn't a computer glitch, it was ME having a mind glitch! haha. I wrote the comments then I was going to "follow" afterward and I completely just forgot, shut my computer, and went on with my day. So sorry! Thank you for pointing it out though, because I DO want to follow. I am loving what I've seen so far. Thanks Melissa!
