A Gray Day

Hello Everyone!
Today was a cloudy gray day here in North Carolina.
Just perfect for sipping hot tea and reading a few magazines.
I also snapped a few new photos to share.
Join me on a tour of our master bedroom
featuring the rug I won from Our Creative Life
Darlene had a give away recently celebrating
her one year of blogging and I couldn't believe I won.
She owns a cutom rug company and I have to tell you the
quality of this rug is superb. I'm just thrilled to pieces!
I chose a chocolate brown border and baby blue center.
With a big ole' custom M in the center of course.
I love it! Thank you again Darlene.
Pay her a visit to view her Etsy shop.
I found this bow pillow in the same colors at Kirklands.
Another view of the bow and slipper chair.
Our bedroom furniture is from Haverty's.
A gray day...soothing and restful.
The gray paint is called Misty by Martha Stewart.
Another view of the rug. It's huge! 3' x 5'.
A close up of the rich colors.
Yes, this rug is Chestnut approved.
He has been known to hang out here lately.
My little desk from Bombay Company.
I found a new blue M for it from Kirklands.
Another table from Kirklands.
The fleur de lis mirror is from Marshalls.
One more view of the rug.
It just makes me smile.
He's wondering if I'm done admiring my new rug yet?
Time for a refreshing cup of hot tea.
Along with a heathy snack of almonds with sea salt.
I'm still doing well with my B/P meds and healthy life.
The weight loss has really slowed down to a crawl with
only a half pound lost this past week but I knew it would.
Stats -14 1/2 lost at four weeks in. B/P 97/66 this am.
My blood pressure is now so low I can't believe it.
I'm keeping an eye on it for sure. It's higher at night.
A few of my favorites to enjoy with my tea.
What magazines do you read and enjoy?
Can you recommend a good one to read?
Have a wonderful week!

I'm having carpet envy, Melissa! This rental has carpet in one room- our bedroom- and it has to be from the 80's- poopy brown and matted...just gross! 2 more months, though! Anyway, the rug is lovely and I love that pillow! And I think I'd like to hide out in my room (well, with blinders on?!) and read magazines all day, but there are 3 little people that always find me! :) I'm starting to feel the pressure of the move. But I hope we can meet up once we're out that direction before we head out again!

Melissa, you home is always so beautiful. That rug is wonderful! You are doing so well on your new food plan. Good for you!

I just thought about you today...I was in Tuesday Morning, and saw these cool monogrammed pillows, that I thought I had seen before at Kirkland's, and it made me think of you, since you are the Kirkland's Queen! LOL! (I'm just the Princess!) Your bedroom is beautiful, as is the baby blue color! Hope you're doing well. Didn't know you were having BP problems, but hope they will be/are resolved! BTW, the Christmas magazines are starting to come out...you should check those out. I just picked up BH&G's Christmas Ideas magazine yesterday. It's a hit to me every year!

Loved your bedroom....and the rug is great.....I am inspired by you to get my blood pressure down to normal...It is just borderline high, but something I need to take serious.

Blondie's Journal said...

I don't know if it was the tea or the bedroom, but your post made me feel like relaxing!! Napping maybe!!

I love the blue and brown combo (see my blog...lol!). The blue makes it peaceful and the brown adds elegance. But you are the designer here... This is so warm and cozy. I love the monogrammed rug. I am going to visit her websire, I need some monogrammed things, you have inspired me!!

Keep up the good work watching your health. Low blood pressure isn't that good either, so mention it to your doctor. Your BP meds may need to be lowered.

Enjoy your mags. They are all my favorites!

Melissa, your room is so beautiful and restful. And the rug is just perfect! I'm glad Chestnut approves, it's never a good idea to upset the kitty lol. Put a new basket in the living room and Sax thinks it's hers! Congratulations on your weight loss and more importantly, on getting that blood pressure down! You've done a wonderful job, keep up the good work. And I love Garden and Gun (hate the title, love the magazine) and the Oxford American. Have a great day! Hugs, Kathy

Congrats on your award, you *so* deserve it!

I really liked the photo with the cup of tea and almonds and your magazines...makes me want to take time to sit and read later today...something I don't get to do often with four little girl's.

I am so happy to hear that your BP is much better and congrats on the weight loss....fantastic news!

Really enjoyed your new post! Have a wonderful day!

Melissa, I'm so happy you're continuing to do well with the BP!

Your bedroom is beautiful and that rug is so fun! I love that bow pillow - so cute! I wish I still had a Kirkland's. They always have such cute things and good prices but the one in our mall closed a few years ago.

Today it's rainy and stormy in ATL so it's a perfect day to sit down with some mags and movie!

I love the rug- same colors as our bedroom! and I really like the idea of a tassel on the top of the candle holder- I enjoy small details like that!

{{{sigh}}} I love looking at pictures of your beautiful home! Everything is so pretty and cozy. The rug is just perfect!!!

Way to go on the weight loss and lowering of your BP! You are a rock star, girl!!! :-) I have been following a much more structured healthy eating plan and I am loving how I am feeling. I have been eating in an almost vegetarian fashion ... lots of fresh veggies and fruits, beans, legumes, nuts, whole grains. I feel wonderful!

happy autumn hugs to you!!! xoxo

Congrats on the b/p! Your room is beautifull! I currently do not subscribe to any magazines. I use to love Southern Living but that all was before kids lifestyle.

Your room is beautiful. And the wedding picture looks like the back of Skopelos overlooking Escambia Bay. Unfortunately, they are closed now and I think a condo or highrise is going up.

Everything in your room is so coordinated, just lovely. Congrats on getting that b/p under control.

Hi Melissa. You've been too quiet lately...I miss you when you're not around.

Cute rug!! Love the mug, I have the other one from Anthropology. My dad and I have low blood pressure and he told my mom he spends time relaxing and praying before he takes his blood pressure and sure enough it works. Both of my parents have lost weight which they say has helped but they also credit their bp to prayer and relaxation.

Love that your bedroom is so serene yet very welcoming. I can see how that would be a place to unwind and feel some peace. I really like your color scheme and have been playing with something similar for my master as well. I think it's time we changed ours so it's more "neutral" and not so feminine.
I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so good w/your healthy life. I feel motivated to really start my own and make some changes. Thanks for that.
I've been a bit MIA so I'm out and about reconnecting with blogging buddies. Looks like I picked a good week to return.
Hugs and have a great day!

Have a good one -

I love the drapery panels in your family room. Great choice, elegant but not fussy. They are just the thing to complement your casually elegant family room decor. Thanks for stopping by this week and also for letting us know about the Door Event on Oct. 15th. I will try to participate!
See you soon. Warmly,
