Living Room Drapes

Hello Everyone!
Happy 2010!
I hope your new year celebration was wonderful.
I have been in a cleaning and nesting mode for months now.
I can't seem to stop. Is anyone else doing this at home lately?
Is it because I'm blogging now? It's been fun that's for sure.
Join me and I will show you our newest draperies.
Here is the final view of the finished formal living room.
It's the first room you see to the left as you enter our home.
The before scarf thingy.
I've had this scarf for about ten years
in every home we have lived in.
It was time to let it go to say the least.
The striped drapes you see here were returned.
Nothing like some trial and error. After! The drapes are actually from the front two windows.
I hung a new rod and placed it up to the height of the ceiling.
I adore the new height it seems to give to the room!
Thank you for your inspiration Kathy. Blog friends are the best.

When they were on the other side of the room they puddled. The pillows are from Kirklands and the chair is from Sams Club. The asian chests that are 32 years old. I like a mix of styles. An accent table holds a vase with ting and a box. The leather sofa is from Ashley. Accent lamps are from JCPenney.
A grouping of pillows from Kirklands.
I have a definite weakness for decorative pillows.
My hubby loves them all too. You know I'm kidding...:)
Here is the culprit himself. Mr Chestnut.
He is wondering where his puddled drapes went.
The new drapes shown here are from BB& Beyond.
They have a flowered pattern and are shorter than the others.
The style and look are very similiar to what was already here.
The fleur de lis tassel was hand made.
You can also see the pattern on the drapes close up.
The french doors leading out to the family room.
Have a wonderful week!

Your living room is lovely, Melissa!!! All of the furnishings add such a richness to the overall decor! The Asian chests are to die for, and I love that you will mix styles! I love to do that, too, but a lot of people seem to shy away from that. Me...I go nuts when things are all matchy-matchy!

Happy 2010, sweet friend!!! xoxo

Oh my gosh, Melissa, I am in "inspiration" HEAVEN right now. What an incredibly GORGEOUS room. I love the new drapes. This is truly a dream room to me...very Tuscan in style which is my absolute favorite. I love the leather furniture and the colors are so well coordinated together. You have done a magnificent job. I must show my hubby this room, as this is a look I would love to have in my home. Bravo! =)

Thanks for sharing...love it!

Meliisa the drapes are beautiful and so is the room. I bet it felt good shedding the scarf "thingy" after 10 years. I do the same thing. I usually dress the house up in timeless tradtional furnishings so nothing really goes out of style around here but geez after awhile I need some sort of change. We have been in this home for 5 years and I am getting the bug to make some changes. Now if I can just find the time :)
Take care

Your Living Room is Gorgeous, Melissa! You should ask Kirkland's for a paycheck for all the advertising you do for them. I finally found a Kirkland's about an hour and a half away from me and it's closing. Just my luck!

I love Chestnut! He's just too cute!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Nice job, Melissa! I love them! These look like the same rich red color I found at Target and put in my great room. Really warmed up that room for me. I love the bee pillow, too! Ha! I can imagine how your hubby is with the pillows; probably similar to mine, as he removes them all and gives me "the look".

Just beautiful! Everything looks so put together and perfect. I really like the color of the walls mixed with everything. Also, love that vignette between the windows...where the mirror and iron thing go up the wall. Perfect!

Melissa! You did great! Everything looks wonderful! I have those scarves in my living room (UGH!) but don't want to get new ones until I can paint - and that might be a while. our living room is so HIGH! It'll cost us a bloody fortune! But I can settle, we don't spend much time in there - our family room is where we hang out - well, when I'm not upstairs in my studio. :)
Happy New Year Girl! I am so glad we met!!!! Thank you for your friendship over the past year! I enjoy every one of our little "conversations". :)
Big hugs! Karen

Love it Melissa - and love that you were able to hang it to the ceiling! All of our drapes from the old house have to be hung from the ceiling, but that's OK - I love that look!

Love this room Melissa! The colors are so rich, and I LOVE those drapes. I know exactly what you mean about cats and "drape puddles" - they soon become hair puddles lol. But poor Chestnut does look a bit confused. Hope you are having a great start to the New Year. Kathy

Melissa Happy New Year, your new drapes are gorgeous, you know I love Red and I saw those in BB&B, it's such a great idea to hang them high (even though the little kitty has less puddle to snuggle). Love how you mix your treasures, I am really trying to get away from matchy. hugs, Kathy.

I love the room, every time I see something in your house I think... ooh that's how I'd like mine to be. In hindsight I wish I'd chosen different colors for my wall, but we've only been here 3 yrs and I've painted downstairs twice already.. I wouldn't dare tell hubby I want to chance again, so I have to stick with it for now.
oh yeah, and you've got me wanting to go to Kirklands, like RIGHT NOW ;-)
Love ya.

You have the same "pillow problem" that I do. My husband gets on my case b/c they almost go to the foot of the bed in our room at the beach, and I just can't stop buying them, LOL! Your new drapes are a gorgeous color. Had to run over here and ask you if you saw that new topper in the Kirkland's e-mails of specials this week. My husband told me that I have an "iron problem" tonight, as he drug in another one of my purchases! At least I'm not anemic! LOL!

You know I love the rich colors.
It's so nice of you to share your resources with us.
The Asian chests tie in so well with your gorgeous decor.

I wanted to thank you and Chestnut for your sweet note about my kitty Angel.
It's been a roller coaster of events with my Angel. She's not fairing very well...and I'm feeling overwhelmed and frustrated in looking for a way to keep her out of pain. Tomorrow is another appt. to the vet for ex-rays and hopefully some (better) answers in her treatment.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

I always love seeing what little and big changes you have made in your beautiful home. The drapes you have chosen are fabulous - so rich looking. I liked seeing how high you hung the rods too - I am in the process of doing the same in our bedroom and debating on whether the 95 inch drapes are too long. I like how yours puddle just a bit at the bottom. Thanks for sharing!
