runner, a tuscan style print, scroll candles and topiaries.
The topiaries and the candles are from Home Goods.
The wrought iron screen is from QVC.
I really adore warm colors and a welcoming feeling.
In the 4 years since we built our home I have not felt like
doing the room over as of yet. I would have chosen a better
layout but this is what works with our large television armoire.
He loves to sleep and stretch. He is huge!

Your mantel is lovely, Melissa!
Gorgeous Melissa, heading over there now...love these kind of parties!~
Beautiful! I love the symmetry on your mantel. Mr. Chestnut is huge!
P.S. I wanted to say also, Girl you can accessorize so well!!!~
Love your antel and your room....thanks for sharing such a lovely home!

Gorgeous! Love those topiaries in the green pots.
Your mantel looks beautiful. I was just recently questioning the Easter/Spring decorations with warm colors. Everything worked this year, because we just moved in and I haven't painted (yet). I was wondering how I'm going to make it all work next year.
It looks so cozy--like a place you could enjoy coffee together. I love the warm colors, too! And that kitty of yours--he's a big boy! I think cats make the perfect decor to any room!!
PS Thanks for featuring me as the "blog of the week"! So exciting! I've never been a featured blog before! Thanks!!!
Your mantle looks so pretty, warm, & welcoming! Great job!! :)
Blessings,
Stacey
Hello again, Melissa.
You always do such a wonderful job with every room in your home. I also decorate with the same colors and really the only difference in the summer is that more sun comes in the windows and the view outside is green instead of white.
What a gorgeous fireplace and mantle!
Melissa, what a pretty mantel and I love the rock wall. You have such a warm and inviting family room to curl up in.
This is exactly what I was looking for my friend! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm going to make a few changes and be sure to post them on my blog when I do.
Many Blessings,
M.
Hi Melissa....I don't decorate with pastels either...but white, creams...they always lighten things up....I just love your home...our tastes are very similar!
I've said it before, but your home is amazing!!
You have such a nice decorating style and it just speaks warmth and welcome.
Just beautiful, as usual! I'm the same as far as colors in decorating. I never use...or even wear...pastels. I try to lighten things up, i.e., removing throws & heavy objects for the spring and summer but I stay with my reds, etc.
Thank you for sharing! Hope you're having a wonderful week. I always look forward to visiting.
Brightest blessings,
Pat
Chestnut is so cute.
Goodness, Chestnut is bigger than Boo!! Not sure of Boo's length mind you but he's only 17lb, and that's pretty heavy for a Shih Tzu!
I love your mantel, your home always looks so cozy and inviting. I have a question, have you ever turned your sofa around to face the fireplace in winter? is it a gas or wood fireplace (or both) I think it would be so cozy curled up on your sofa watching the fire :)
Melissa your home is always just lovely! I do love all your rich tones, they really do add that warm welcoming feeling.
Oh and Mr. Chestnut is just so adorable. He certainly looks relaxed. : )
I just love those candles and the holders..they are really nice..Loved the mantel...love everything about your house girl, who am I kidding..lol
The saying on your mantel is just perfect! Everything looks lovely!
Hey Melissa! A quick look around my home and I realized that I'm drawn to the darker colors myself, which does make it difficult to decorate for the Spring/Summer. I do that decorating outside by adding lots of color to my flower beds. I love your mantle!
xoxo,
Kim
The mantel and the whole room is so warm and inviting.
Hi Melissa! Your mantel is beautiful as always. I adore those topiaries! And it is always fun seeing big ol' Mr. Chestnut!!

Your mantle looks wonderful! I usually do not decorate for spring and summer either. Your kitty is adorable and he is a big boy! I hope you have a great week!

Beautiful mantle! I love your home. I have company coming tomorrow and need to do something different on both of mine.....think I'll be experimenting tonight!
Tehehehe, wouldn't it be nice to stretch out and relax like the cat does - just whenever and where ever to want. Mine does the same!
I love your mantle and your room. Very cozy and inviting.
Melissa, I love your mantel - you did a beautiful and elegant job! Linda
~ Hi Melissa~
Such an elegant looking mantle. The colors throughout your home are *SOOOOOOOO* pretty. I'm more of a warm colors kinda girl myself, so I am always inspred anytime you do a post. Thank you! I need to re-do my mantle now. =)

Melissa, your mantel is gorgeous and you know that I love your home. Just gorgeous. You always do a beautiful job with your accessories. Stunning. Hugs, Marty
Melissa...really my eyes are baby blue...but depending on what I wear..they sometimes can have a green tint to them. Usually people think I am wearing colored contacts...but no, those are my eyes!! Thanks for the compliment - and of course I would mention you...I just love that pillow!
Your home is incredible! I love all the stone and dark wood on your fireplace.
YOur kitty is handsome!! And I am so glad to visit more of your lovely home! I know what you mean about loving it. When I can something and smile just because I walk into the room it is so worth it! Everyone should feel that way about their home! I enjoyed my visit!!
Hugs, Lisa
Hi Melissa,
That's the thing about homes, you can do whatever you want! I've always loved warm colors. Until recently, I stuck to rich reds, warm yellows, and sage greens. I've sprinkled red around my home. Now, though, I've gravitated toward whites (mostly in fabric and accessories). I don't think I'll completely give up red, though. Oh, I see I'm not the only whose decorating in the family room is held hostage by the TV cabinet/entertainment center! Mine is huge!!
BTW, we are moving to Utah, Hill AFB. We put our house on the market on Friday and got a good offer on Tues! We accepted and are awaiting inspection on Monday. I've been spending my time cleaning and decluttering and I'm still NOT through! I keep getting rid of stuff as the alternative is having to unpack the stuff and find a place for it....shudder!!!
Hi Melissa! Looking good! Mr. Chestnut is loving life.
Your room is beautiful, as well as your mantel. I am smitten by the scroll candles and of course the topiaries!
You have such a warm style and it is very inviting!
It was so nice to visit you and your lovely home.

I am with you on the warm colors. I know that I am seeing a lot of whites and neutrals and while I like them, they aren't me.
Your mantel looks lovely. I don't have much on mine because our double mantel is really the focal point. I am going to paint it black too. I can't wait.
Melissa, little sook-ums looks so cozy in the sun!! I just want to cuddle him! My son seen me reading your post and was so in love with your room! Poor guy, our house is so pastel, he adores your colors!!! Love,Lori

Beautiful mantel display and I love the iron screen too. Cute picture of the cat ;)
I forgot to ask you Melissa, do u have problems taking Mr Chestnut to the vet? Our cat just hates going and I don't know how they are ever going to examine him without sedation.
I love your style, little lady. Kirklands used to be my hangout when I used to stay home, but my home is just a place to hang out for the winter now :(
I could lok at photos of your home all day.

Hi Melissa, Love your mantel -- you did a great job decorating it and the big room. You cat sure knows how to make himself comfy, doesn't he ? No worries or cares.
I don't know how you accessed my blog, but I changed my internet service, and now getting mail from no one at home as well as on my blog. Have been trying everything. Monday I have an appointment at the Apple store and hopefully they can help. One of the codes for sending and receiving mail is not correct. I will be patient!! No one can visit unless I've been bookmarked. Ah, these computers are so much fun when they work, aren't they ? So glad you are doing well.
Enjoy your weekend.
