Mockingbirds & Mulch

Hello Everyone!
How are you? Well it was time to do some
major yard clean up this weekend. It was a mess.
I think I pulled about a million weeds and got ant
bites in the process. Ouch! Check out the changes.
Hello new world!
Isn't he precious?
It's our very own baby mockingbird hanging out
by our front door. Look at that adorable fuzzy head.
Here is his mama and she was so hilarious.
She would see us inside and make all kinds of noise warning
us to stay away from her babies. If you enlarge the photo
you can see her perched on the glass table ready for us.
Here is my hubby working on the bushes with the trimmer.
Hooray! This is much better.
We have separation between the bushes again.
They were turning into one giant hedge.
It was time for new mulch for the plant beds as well.
After!
What a difference fresh mulch makes don't you think?
The view from the other side.
We do have room to plant much more in this large bed.
I must admit I am not a great gardener though.
I have the worst allergies and rarely work outside.
A nice clean yard ready for the heat of the summer.
Thank you to my hubby for all of his hard work.
Have a wonderful week!

Wow... your yard is beautiful! Mulch does freshen everything up. Makes me want to spend a day pulling weeds. :) The baby mockingbird is so, so cute!

Love mockingbirds! They are so cute and precious. Your yard looks wonderful ~ lots of work doing that too. I have horrible allergies and I couldn't do the lawn when I had my house...had to hire lawn teams to do it. I love to plant flowers and that's about it for me.

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Melissa,
You have a lovely home and your yard looks immaculate and very pretty. I have never seen a mockingbrid so it was a new experience for me to see your sweet little baby. Just wanted to stop by and say Hi.

Looks fabulous Melissa. I just love mockingbirds. Lots of times the mommas will dive-bomb you when the babies are around. She knew you were nice. :)

Beautiful gardens Melissa and adorable birds. We have many birds, chipmunks and rabbits lately and helping themselves to our hosta plants.I have asthma and allergies and not a fan of long times in the yard but as a homeowner it is something my family helps so much with caring out. Your outside is just as beautiful as when you show us the inside decor. I don't believe I have ever seen a mocking bird as well. He is sooo cute!Take care in this hot summer,Emelia

I love watching birds. That baby is adorable.
Your yard looks great, I need to get out there also but I will admit I'm getting tired of the heat and humidity.

Ouch, I am allergic to ant bites. We just did this a couple of weeks ago, around the rain in VT.

Looks gorgeous! Good job!

Awww, cute birdie:) I don't think I've every seen a real mocking bird! Love your yard and that porch. It's way too hot here to do yard work or gardening hence the reason my veggie garden is looking a mess!
Hope you're having a lovely Sunday.

Your yard is beautiful Melissa. And I just love your back porch. The baby mockingbird is so cute. And their mammas are so protective - we had a nest in our backyard, and the neighborhood cats have the scars to prove it :) Kat

Melissa, your yard looks wonderful. So lush and green. We finally got some much needed rain this weekend so now we are green again. It was getting really brown. I love when fresh mulch gets put out makes everything look so much better.

How cute is that baby bird? I don't think we have Mocking Birds up here in Cleveland. That was so great to see! It's funny that you posted about your yard, I finally got one of those garden flag poles with a "T" on it and put it up this weekend. I remember asking you about it last year. I am so excited that I FINALLLY got one!!! I thought of you when I put it up. I hope you had a nice weekend!

Love the little baby bird...and his protective mother - she looks pretty serious :) We just had some baby chimney sweeps in a nest in our chimney, they fell out of their nest and down onto our hearth - we had 5 baby birds in the living room!
Love your yard - it's all beautiful!

looks wonderful. sometimes you don't need to fill in all the space in your garden beds and you can just let what you have shine on its one. And it's less work.

BTW - I have left an award for you on my site.

It looks lovely the way it is, Melissa! Sometimes just leaving things neat like this is good {at least to my mind at this stage of my life}! I also have allergies that have been very bad this year. I feel like they started in March and they are still here! I never had allergies until I hit 40. That bird is something else! Standing right on your glass table, too.

What beautiful pictures, Melissa! Your yard is manicured to perfection, what a wonderful job you both have done. I love the outdoor rug and the ferns in hanging baskets. Now I need to get on the stick and do the same with my yard...it is definitely in need of a little TLC. lol!

Enjoy the day! ((Hugs)) ~Liz

All your hard work certainly paid off as it looks beautiful!

I have the worst allergies too and don't work outside much for that reason as well...as much as I'd love a flower cutting garden, I just can't risk it...

Have a good week!

Many Blessings,
M.

Your yard looks pretty darn good, Melissa. It's too hot here for me to get out and work with the gas edger. Maybe when it cools off...
I've hired someone to come in and plant where I yanked out the bushes in the front bed. (what WAS I thinking?) I came to the realization real quick that I do not like yard work!!!
Your porch is something I am envying. I'd like to include one next time we build. Stay cool! :-) Sue

Your yard looks wonderful! Mulch does make a big difference. I love the picture of the precious baby mocking bird. Boy! his mom was really mad! lol...she didn't want you guys near her babies! You might remember the picture of the baby bird I posted a while back, the momma was constantly fussing at me in the yard too. lol...

I just love all the color on your patio, those pillows and rug look beautiful! Your flowers look good too. Some of mine look like they need to be thrown in the trash, it's been over 100 here everyday. It's getting really hard to keep them alive. Although, Kevin went out to mow today and it started pouring, we needed the rain, but our yard is really high...it's starting to look unkept! The garden is really going crazy, I'll post it soon. OMG!!!!! I want that bird on my porch! He has an attitude only a mockingbird could pull off. Your such a good photographor. At my house we have a lot of visitors too. This one robin kept splashing himself with the water we left out for the creatures to drink. Your porch looks lovely just like the inside of your home. Hopefully you'll still be able to use it lol with the baby's mother around. Thanks for the cute pictures!
