Master Suiteness

Hello Everyone!
Have you ever changed the furniture layout in a
room and then been pleasantly surprised at the result?
I decided on a whim this past week to do just that to our
master bedroom. After measuring the room we determined
the room would appear larger and have a much better flow.
Join me for my master bedroom metamorphosis tour.
Here is the *after*!
The bed and triple dresser changed locations.
All photos enlarge to see details.
Here is the *before*. The bed cut the large room in half.
It had been this layout for over 4 years.
I wish I had done this change much sooner.
We positioned the bed beween the 2 windows.
We now have a ballroom for dancing.
LOL! Not really but we could dance if we wanted too.
I'm going shopping for a new bench. I'll show you what I find.
I added the tassel vanity bench for now but it is too small.
The dark wood furniture is from Haverty's.
The accent table was moved next to the closet.
The armoire stayed in the same location.
I'm happy we did not have to move this piece.
It is very heavy.
I moved the half moon to serve as my night table.
The lamp and plate were added to the dresser.
It was fun using what I already had in the room.
Everything appears different when you move it around.
I hope you try it too!
I moved the slipper chair by my desk from Bombay Co.
The blue paint is called Misty from Sherwin Williams.
Most of the wall art found a new home as well.
I am really pleased with the new room layout.
I am only 1 week away from my 2 year blog anniversary!
I'll be having a great giveaway for my followers. Sign up now!
Thank you all for visiting. You're the best.
Have a wonderful week!

I like bed moved around. Our furniture is to heavy to move so I have to decide by Thursday exactly where everything is going. I am thinking of putting the bed in front of 3 windows. I wouldn't normally do that but I am thinking that it will look great!

Warm and inviting as always, Melissa. Have a great week.

Wow, Melissa, I'm impressed! Every now and then I think about re-arranging furniture, but I never get around to actually DOING it!

Your bedroom looks wonderful!

Elizabeth @ Southern Comfort said...

I love the new placement! It sure opens up the room and it seems so much larger. My hubby and I tried to "flip" our room too and we loved the new placement, but we didn't like not being able to see out the door (we both like being able to see out the door when we're sleeping.. a security thing I guess). So we switched it back. Oh well, we enjoyed it for the 3 weeks we had it. :)

Looks really wonderful Melissa! It really does look much larger Can't wait to see what bench you pick up.

Melody Parris said...

WOW! Your bedroom looks amazing. I just love your colours and furnature! The pillows and curtains really add to the overall effect of the master bedrroom. Changing the furnature around really did make the whole room look larger. A bench will make your room look even more prettier, if it's even possible. I can not get over how beautiful you make everything look.

Hi Girlfriend...

Ohh my goodness...I can't believe how much difference this new layout makes to your master bedroom, Melissa! I love the bed in between the windows...and you're right...that really opens up the other side of the room! Pure genius! Love that you're using that pretty half table for your bedside table! I think that adding a bench to the end of your bed would be really nice! This just turned out beautifully, Melissa! I'm so happy for you! Sooo...I'm curious...did you think that this layout wouldn't why you had never tried it before? You know, the way my master bedroom is laid out...I only have one option or place for our bed. Sure wished that I could change the furniture around in that room once in awhile...but no chance. Well sweet friend, you know that I love your beautiful master have designed and decorated it sooo beautifully! Thanks for sharing your new layout with us...I love it!!!

Love ya,

Your room looks great and wow do I love your bed and armoire!!!!!!!
I see the custom initial rug still looks great!! That's good to see! I am seeing an upholestered tan bench at the end of your bed to pick up the tan in your lamp shades. Maybe even a pattern would look nice on the bench.

I love the location of the bed!! It looks great framed by the two windows! You have a sweet Master Suite!

Becca said...

Melissa !! This is gorgeous ... like a 5 star hotel. The bed looks as though it was meant to be sitting in between your two windows. The dresser looks great in its new "home," too (love the runner on it). It really did double the size of your room, and I can only imagine how much you and your hubs are enjoying the new layout. Now, go get your ballroom dancing shoes on and cut the rug in there. lol LOVE IT !! *Becca*
