Another Year Has Gone

Hello Friends!
Another year has come and *almost* gone.
Whew. Can you believe it? Time really passes
by faster as we age. Life is a lovely precious gift.
It's hard to believe this will be my last post of 2010.
~*~
As the new year approaches I can't help but wonder
*Where will we be next Christmas?* A military move
seems to be a definite for us by sometime next fall.
Where and exactly when remains to be seen.
I'll keep you posted...
~*~
I have been doing tons of thinking about my blog and
what to do with it over the past few months. I feel like
I may have run out of post topics and I am boring you.
At the same time I posted more than I ever have the
last few months and my blog has grown in numbers.
Thank you all for your interest and kindness.
I now receive *countless* spam emails every single day.
It is getting really weird to say the least....Sigh.
The final straw came yesterday. I received a *gift* in the
mail from a stranger. What is that about? I won't go into
the details but let's just say it made me uncomfortable that
they would take it upon themselves to do this without asking.
~*~
~UPDATE~
Well, my friends everything is okay now...:)
My sweet blog friend *Gloria* sent me the *gift*.
No card was attached from the company so after all
of the spam I receive I just thought the worst. Ha!
My goodness, silly me...and thank you Gloria my *bloggy Mom*.
~*~
I hope your holidays are healthy, happy and safe.
Enjoy!

I don't have my address in my information or my email..I like to keep my email separate from my blog.
You have much to offer, we each do because we are each differant from one another. That is the key, and we grow from each other. You have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! :D

Just recently found your blog. I love it.

I'm not sure what has happened recently, but I'm sorry you feel that it might make your blog either private or non-existant. :(

Take time for the holidays to refresh and renew!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'm so sorry that you've been getting weird emails or "gifts." I've heard that happening to different bloggers- I have no clue how strangers find out that information. But I hope you'll keep blogging =)

Hope you're enjoying the Christmas season. I'm finally stress free and ready to relax and enjoy! Ahhh.

I'll be thinking of you as a new duty station time gets closer. I'm ready for a move but it doesn't look like that is in our near future.

How did this person get your home address? That would bother me a tad. I too try to keep my blog away from my personal contacts.

Very true, Melissa! It does seem that the time has gone by so fast! I'm sorry to hear you are getting so much spam and that you were uncomfortable getting something in the mail from someone. Perhaps you could put something on your blog sidebar about that so people won't do it without having to close your blog altogether. I don't know how private blogs work.

Kimberly said...

Melissa-I left you an email. :)

I love blogging and getting to know people all over the world yet with that comes a lack of privacy too. The balance?? You trust and hope bad things won't happen. If you make your blog private, please add me to the list of those who love it and would never abuse it! Hope your holidays are happy!!!!

Hi Melissa!
I'm sorry to hear you've been getting spam. Just so you know, you're not alone. I received 3 very disturbing emails a month ago and blocked the person. I thought about going private, but decided I wasn't going to let some "weirdo" take away something I enjoy. The gift thing would bother me, especially if I hadn't given my address out. I know it's a personal decision, but I love your blog and would miss it and you greatly. ((Hugs))

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ~Liz =)

Love ya my sweet daughter and Merry Christmas...Hugs and love Gl♥ria

We wonder where we'll be next Christmas too. We have a PCS coming up in the fall, though we're trying to stay put. All this back and forth to the States (5 times total now) is exhausting and expensive! Military moves are always fun aren't they? Here's hoping for a great 2011, whatever it may bring.

Yes, this year has flown by! Glad you know who the gift is from. That would have been weird.

Hi Melissa~ goodness, I haven't been getting too many spam emails or comments yet luckily... I hope you continue blogging- I always enjoy your posts and seeing your beautiful decorations and rooms! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Hugs, Courtney

I hope you will continue to blog. I started working full time and that's why I've not been visiting much lately. However, I'm off for two weeks and can't wait to catch up.

Merry Christmas to you!

Blessings and love,
Debbie

PS. My Facebook account got hacked this morning and sent a video to everyone who was my friend. Talk about embarassing. I had to change my password but got it all straightened out. But I'm not giving up.

Oh, Melissa, I'm so glad the package was a gift!! Whew!

My blog is not nearly as big as years, but the amount of spam I get has gone up recently, too. I can sympathize with you because I know you must get much, much more than I do. Please don't let it discourage you.

I don't think you're boring anyone--you have such a sweet spirit, so I always enjoy coming here to visit you. I think you're a wonderful presence in the blogging community.

Love you, sweet girl! Have a very merry Christmas.

That's strange about the emails but you should look at how great people think your blog is; I love reading your new posts and seeing pictures of your house and Mr Chestnut. (I saw his pictures of him wearing the cute gingerbread headband and he looks adorable!) I hope you keep your blog and it's my favorite one to look at; I personally think you should keep posting because you have a great talent for decorating, photography and blogging. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Thank you Melody!

I'm sure I will keep on blogging. I think posting less often may work out better for me.

Happy Holidays to you!

Well I did think that strange, how could a stranger get your address? Glad you found out it was Gloria.
I hope you don't close your blog Melissa, surely the amount of comments tell you that everyone loves reading it, goodness, you get more comments on one post than I do in a month ;-) And if you do move then posting about your new home decor will certainly not bore us. Have a wonderful Christmas if you don't post before 2011, and I wish you and your family a happy and healthful New Year.

Hi Melissa. I am so glad that the gift was nothing more than a gift from a sweet blog friend. I understand what you are saying about privacy etc. I just try and remember that most everyone that reads my blog, I feel are just like me and you. Just girls talking like friends and enjoying getting to know each other. I am thinking of taking a little break until the new year. Maybe you should do the same.

Hi beautiful Melissa! Oh, I'm sorry for the scare you had about the gift and so glad you found out it was from our Dear Gloria - she's a wonder! Sorry about the spam too. So far I haven't really gotten any weirdness of comments on my blog.
I hope you will continue to blog - for one so young, you really do have a lot to offer and I love coming to see you.
Take care Dear One and Merry Christmas to you and your family,

Dear Melissa, I'm so glad your secret gift giver came forward. How nice was that of Gloria to send you a present. She is so nice.

Please don't leave. Then Spam would win! we bloggers always enjoy seeing what 'us ladies' (and some gents) are doing with our daily lives. We all love to share our little part of the world.

Please dont close us out..or go private...we should not have to hide...or lock our doors, or always look over our shoulders...(well, locked doors yes)...it is a sad world when we have to be afraid of living free..

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hope you continue in 2011.xoxo...

Glad you found out who the gift was from. I was getting scared for you for a second. Enjoy yoyr last Christmas in that house. Moving often must be a little overwhelming, but then again you are probably used to it by now.

Oh holy cow, you freaked me out when you stated you received a gift in the mail! Ack! Thank goodness it was from a friend. :)

I'm not spammed anymore, but I have an 'ugly' person leaving nasty comments on my blog. Never had one of those before! Guess that's what happens when one chooses to have their blog public. I just delete her comments. :)

Have a wonderful, blessed, relaxing Christmas!

Dear Sweet Melissa you must not stop blogging...look at all the wonderful and loving comments you receive. I must admit that I don't open and will not publish anything from an anonymous person because I have heard that can be a problem.

Because I have been away I am just catching up on your last few posts. I love your Christmas table! The runners and placemats are lovely and I adore tartan so the napkins caught my eye immediately. Your Christmas dishes are fantastic. Beautiful.
I also loved the images you posted of Christmas and winter scenes.

Have a very Merry Christmas and we all look forward to reading your first post of 2011!
Merry Christmas!

Melissa, wishing you, your DH, and sweet KK (Chestnut) a very Merry Christmas!

I truly understand about the SPAM. I've been away from my computer, sick, and I came back to find all sorts of strange things in my in-box with some things being from people whose blogs were "attacked" by some random hacker. Not what I wanted to see. Fortunately, I didn't open it. I'm glad that what you got was from our dear Gloria and not from some nut!

Hoping that 2011 brings us all blessings for the year and that you get the assignment of your dreams!

Merry Christmas...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Meissa. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
I enjoy your blog and would be sad if you had to close it. I would understand though. I'm glad you found out who the gift came from!!
I've thought about starting a blog but am a bit afraid of making a public blog! If you decide to go private, I would love to remain a reader!
I also wish you lots of luck with your next PCS, too. I know the waiting to find out where you're going to be going can be hard!

Hi Melissa! Been a little while since I have really made the blogland rounds. I'm sorry to hear about all the spam. I completely understand because I have gotten alot of them also. Occasionally a "weird" person will try to follow too. But that has really only been 2 or 3 times. Just blocked them. I also have been blocking the emails as they come in. I sure hope you stick with your blogging because I enjoy seeing your decorating tips and hearing about your great decor finds. Your diet is also an inspiration to me. I know a little about military moves and they can be fun as well as stressful but I'm hoping that 2011 brings only positive things into your life. Take care. Cheryl
