The New Me!

Hello Friends!
I was in desperate need of a haircut and got 10 inches cut off.
It has been long forever. In fact I can't even remember when
it was this short last. It feels so cool with this hot weather.
I love it! I hope you like it too.
Join me for my own little photo session.
Here it is!
The black ruffled top and necklace are from Cato.Excuse my grays. I have never colored my hair...yet.
I've been enjoying new ways to style it.
I've been using Paul Mitchells smoothing serum.
It smells very fresh and clean.
I already have a lot of auburn so I'm thinking
about adding some more reddish highlights.
That was fun!
Many of you have asked to see some weight loss photos
and with my new haircut I felt inspired to take them.
Here I am at 48 pounds down!

I'm still working hard at it and feel fantastic!

Thumbs up to all of you on this journey. I know you can do it!
Have a wonderful week!

Faith & Wicker

Hello Friends!
I'm back! I hope all is going well with you all.
I had a really nice time on my blog break.
I was searching on ebay for something else and
and ended up spotting this pretty faith wreath.
It's always when we are not looking that we find "it".
Join me for a few summery changes I have made.
A warm and welcoming wreath for the front door.
It has all the colors I love plus some feathers.
I really liked the message on this sign.
Faith is being sure of what you hope for.
The full view of the door.
I bought the topiaries from Home Decorators catalog.
Oops! I need to paint the front door again soon.
I finally found a wicker basket of ting
to cover the odd plug next to the armoire.
Here is the full view.
Now...
If only the A/C vent was somewhere else.
I changed the green tray to wicker for summer.
That and the basket were both $7 a piece a Ross.
I have really found some neat things there lately.
Have a great week!

Shopping For Scrolls

Hello Everyone!
I found a few things yesterday and thought I would
play show and tell. I love to shop! How about you?
The theme of the day seemed to be scrolls.
Isn't it funny how that happens and you don't notice.
A scroll M candle from BB& Beyond for $7.
A new scroll runner for the coffee table from Ross.
It was 9.99. It's nice to use a light color for summer.
Scroll outdoor pillows from Lowes for our bistro set.
They were $9.99 a piece.
Notice our brown grass. This has been the driest season so far.
It did just rain briefly though. We really needed it.
Some fresh flowers for the oudoor deck table.
Let's see how long I can keep them alive.
A gold scroll frame from Ross for $6.
I love chunky frames and am always looking for them.
Another scroll frame from Ross for $4.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Pretty Poppy Plates

Hello Everyone!
How is your week going?
Whew! It is hot and humid as can be here.
Summer has arrived and on that note I decided
it was time to create a warm weather tablescape.
Join me for some summer fun!
Poppies are popping up everywhere.
I have loved them ever since the Wizard of Oz.
I found the poppy plates at Ross for $6 for all four.
What? I never find a deal that good.
I would have bought more but that was all they had.
It's looking cheerful in green, white and the pops of red.
Here's the poppy plate up close to see the detail.
The napkins are BB& Beyond and the rings are at Pier 1.
The placemats and woven chargers are also from Ross.
The poppy arrangement is from Kirklands.
The bird S/P shakers are $3 at Pier 1.
Votives and gingham ribbon are at Michaels.
One more look at the precious poppy plates.
Have a great week!

Mrs Dash Spicy Shrimp

Hello Everyone!
Thank you for your kind words about my weight loss!
I appreciate all of you who entered my cookbook giveaway as well.
The winner is Jan at Rose Haven. Congrats to Jan!
~*~
Here is a simple shrimp recipe that we enjoy.
Do you use Mrs Dash?
We have tried many of the flavors and they are all good.
I really believe they have helped with my weight loss success.
Here is the spicy Chipotle flavor.
We mix one pound of shrimp in a bowl with one tbsp olive oil and one tbsp Chipotle.
Yummy!
We use our George Foreman grill daily. Click here to check them out on QVC.
I made an easy guacamole with a mashed avacado, lime juice and S/P.
It is great with the Chipolte. You can also add chopped tomato and onion to it.
Here is our delicious and healthy dinner.
You can still eat flavorful meals and lose weight.
I'm feeling good and grateful to be healthy again.
Good luck to all of you that are on this journey.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Weight Loss Giveaway

Hello Everyone!
It's been nine months as of yesterday.
Pounds lost 48 B/P 100/66 With no meds.
I am thrilled!
Many of you have asked to see my photo and
I have been a big chicken since I still want to lose
at least 10 more pounds. Well I decided to show
you my big pants with me in them. Join me!
Yes this is me!
My hubby took this photo yesterday. Believe it or not
my butt is actually hidden in there somewhere.
I can pull them straight down to the floor in one tug.
I wore them to my last doctor appointment on
09/08/09 and they fit me snug at the waist.
The next day was the start of my new healthy life.
It's amazing what healthy living can do for us.
This is not me but this is how I feel today.
Hooray!
So many of you have also been asking for healthy recipes
and to be perfectly honest I really didn't have very many.
We eat quite simply. Fresh salads topped with steak or chicken.
Usually on the weekends we eat steamed veggies and make
salmon or grilled shrimp. We have made an herb roasted chicken
many times. My breakfast is oatmeal or cereal along with
scrambled eggs and fresh fruit. See no real recipes to speak of.

After reading many weight loss blogs lately I have
found my new diet routine now. As of the last several
months I wasn't following any plan. Just healthy eating
and exercising on my own. I am definitely not an expert.
Look what I found! Check out this website about the
clean eating diet from Tosca Reno. It is awesome!
A way to eat very healthy without any calculations.
I ordered a recipe book for me and one for you too.
Leave me a comment here and you are entered to win.
I will announce the winner on Sunday and mail it to you.
It's that easy.
Here are the clean eating principles.
I need to work on the first two.
Many of these we were already doing.
Here is just one of the many healthy recipes inside.
I ordered the book from Amazon. Click here to see more.
I learned the hard way not to take my health for granted.
I'm feeling grateful to have found a way to live better.
Stay tuned for more photos coming soon.
Thanks for entering and good luck!

Foyer Table Lamps

Hello Everyone!
I've been doing some shopping and decided to
change the single lamp in the entryway to a pair.
I found this set of two for $59 at Kirklands.
Not bad. They also offer coupons to use.
Join me and I will show you the new look.
As you enter the front door this is on the left.
I adore a balanced look on a table.
I can't believe I waited four years to change it.
It also shows the new flowers Kristen made
in a prettier way. The table is from JCPenney.
Click here to see the old lamp and arrangement.
I added the scented sage green tassels from Ross.
It's lemon verbena scent and they smell really good.
I had never seen scented tassels before. Neat!
I added the decorative hanging plates as well.
They match all of the colors in the foyer.
They are from Kirklands and were $6 a piece.
The other side of the foyer has a mini chest.
It's important to have a welcoming first impression.
Try adding rugs, tables, candles, lamps and photos.
I think I have it covered now for sure.
Here is one more view from the stairs.
Have a wonderful week!
