Summer Cheer

Hello Everyone!
How about a little summer time cheer?
When I think of red and yellow it always makes me smile.
I spotted this floral at Kirklands and thought of summer days.
Today was glorious and bright and it made me happy.
I hope you are too!
I used my vibrant red dishes from Marshalls.
I found the hummingbird dessert plates at Marshalls too.
A view from above.
The rings, napkins and placemats are all from Ross.
A view fom the kitchen looking into the eating nook.
Who says you can't use your Christmas goblets in the summer?
I did. They are from the Princess House catalog.
Time to announce the winner of my $50 gift card giveaway.
There were 104 of you that entered. Thank you!
I doubled that number to 208 and ran the number generator.

Rose Tiered Stand

Hello Everyone!
We are having a heatwave in NC.
We're trying to stay cool over here.
Take a look at my new white tub stand.
I found it at Marshalls last week for $19.
I had my eye out for one and was happy to find it.
It's a clever idea for holding typical bath stuff.
I saw it on another blog and really liked the look.
One basket holds sweet smelling creams and bee towels.
The bee themed bathroom accessories are at Marshalls.
Another holds my favorite almond bath soaps.
It has delicate pink roses and white lattice designs.
Here is another look.
I like the update it gave the tub area.
Have a wonderful week!

Green Is Good

Hello Everyone!
Have you ever noticed that you tend to buy a
particular color over and over or is that just me?
Check out my latest green obsession.
See it! It's the little green clock I found at Marshalls.
It was on clearance for $8 and I had to have it for the mantel.
Green is found everywhere around our mantel.
A sage green swivel chair makes a cozy reading nook.
Green accessories for the coffee table.
A green Home sign from Kirklands.
A close up of my favorite new green clock.
I'm a sucker for miniature items.
Sage green vases tied with more green.
My plump green bird from Cracker Barrel.
The entire view of the mantel.
What are your color inspirations?
Have a fantastic week!

Mockingbirds & Mulch

Hello Everyone!
How are you? Well it was time to do some
major yard clean up this weekend. It was a mess.
I think I pulled about a million weeds and got ant
bites in the process. Ouch! Check out the changes.
Hello new world!
Isn't he precious?
It's our very own baby mockingbird hanging out
by our front door. Look at that adorable fuzzy head.
Here is his mama and she was so hilarious.
She would see us inside and make all kinds of noise warning
us to stay away from her babies. If you enlarge the photo
you can see her perched on the glass table ready for us.
Here is my hubby working on the bushes with the trimmer.
Hooray! This is much better.
We have separation between the bushes again.
They were turning into one giant hedge.
It was time for new mulch for the plant beds as well.
What a difference fresh mulch makes don't you think?
The view from the other side.
We do have room to plant much more in this large bed.
I must admit I am not a great gardener though.
I have the worst allergies and rarely work outside.
A nice clean yard ready for the heat of the summer.
Thank you to my hubby for all of his hard work.
Have a wonderful week!

Ideas for Updates

Hello Friends!
It's been a rainy day here in NC and we needed it.
It's starting to look like a jungle out there now.
I'm always have decorating ideas pop up in my head.
Since my hubby is a Marine it is not worth it to
put too much into our home. It is always only a
matter of time before the next moving day comes.
For us it may be next summer or the one after.
We don't know anything at this point.
Join for me for my wish list of home decor' ideas.
We had our home built 4 years ago and had
upgrades put into the kitchen while it was being built.
Anyone who has done this process before knows that
almost nothing comes upgraded in a new home.
We extended the cherry hardwoods, added recess lighting
and hanging pendants, stainless appliances and painted.
We added the granite countertops a few months later.
The kitchen is pretty spacious and I do enjoy that.
What I would do is paint out the cabinets and add trim.
Who knows what color. Maybe a warm brown or rich black.
At this point they will have to stay as is.
Here is the adjoining family room and I would
extend the hardwoods into this room as well.
In the formal dining room I would add white
decorative wainscoting to the bottom and paint.
For added curb appeal I would have a brick paver
sidewalk leading to the front steps. I love that look!
We added the red round pathway from Lowes.
I would also add more custom landscaping.
On the covered back deck I would have this made
into an enclosed room. It would have glass walls
and a ceiling fan. Our neighbors are having it
done now and it looks very nice.
In the master bathroom I would tile the floor.
It comes standard now for the newer homes
being built in our neighborhood. Go figure.
I would also change the countertops to granite.
With all that said I do love our home as is!
I'm very grateful to live here and take care of it.
This is just a fun what if dream of mine. :)
How about you? Do you ever think of more updates?
Mr Chestnut is napping with all of this rainy weather.
He says sweet dreams to you too.
Have a wonderful week!

Tuscan Dreams

Hello Friends!
As home decor' lovers we all have a dream
home we would like to own someday don't we?
Join me for a few inspiring photos I found.
Isn't this beautiful? I love the glowing warmth.
Whoever owns this home must really enjoy it.
Look at the high beams, arches and large island.
Can you imagine the dinner parties here?
Wow! Look at that amazing chandy and fireplace.
The thing I adore about the tuscan style is the warm feeling.
Even though this room is really large it still feels welcoming.
What a pretty and private patio.
It must be like hanging out in a treehouse.
Can you imagine living here? This is just gorgeous.
I would like to visit Italy one day.
Have you seen this movie?
If not you will soon love Tuscany too.
It is really wonderful!
What's your favorite home style?
Have a fantastic week!

Memories & M's

Hello Everyone!
This is my third post in less than a week.
I believe that is a record for me along with posting
nine times during June. I thought I was having a
hard time thinking up new posts but I guess not.
Join me here to tour my vintage style tablescape.
I adore all monograms and was passed down my
husbands grandparents monogram flatware set.
It is full of vintage charm at 70 years old.
This gave me the idea for this tablescape of memories.
A glass wine stopper and cheese board.
They are both from Kirklands.
You can swap out the ribbon to match your theme.
Here is the full view of the table.
The dishes, napkins and damask placemats are from Ross.
I have had the wine glassses and S/P shakers for 15 years.
They were given to me by my parents.
Here are the ivory monogram napkins.
They usually sell out of M. I was happy to find them.
Another view of the dinette.
If you click on the photo your can see the details.
I must admit I have not polished them up yet.
As soon as I do I will show you how they turned out.
Have a wonderful week!
