Clean and Clutter Free

Hello Everyone!
First, don't hate me because I'm *clutter free*. LOL!
Many of you have said how clean and clutter free our home is.
I'm here to show you that this is indeed...true!
I work hard to keep it this way. It's my job and I enjoy it.
The number one key to a clean home is removing clutter.
Hands down numero uno, #1, top priority.
I donate and throw away clutter on a regular basis.
This makes for an easy day of housekeeping when the time comes.
Click here if you interested in my cleaning schedule post.
Join me for a tour of our clutter free home spaces.
Ah, I just breath easier with less *stuff*. Try it!
Well organized and clean drinking glasses are easy to find.
Coffee and espresso mugs are spotless.
Quick tip for removing stains from coffee mugs.
1. Mix a squirt of lemon juice with table salt to form a paste.
2. Scrub and scour away.
Voila!
The spices are easy to organize with metal tier racks.
I bought them at Target.
*All photos enlarge when clicked.*
The everyday dishes are clean and ready to use.
Seasonal dishes are stacked and stored neatly.
Another tip is to not have items that don't belong.
Such as, I wouldn't have my contact solution in here.
Each place should have a purpose.
This way you know where to look for things.
I don't have a junk drawer. No need for one. Really.
Extra napkins are folded neatly.
The napkin rings fit well on each side of this kitchen console.
A decorative cabinet can make a great storage piece.
Click here to read that post.
Napkin rings drawer number two.
I like to use them in unique ways. Click here to see.
Seasonal decor' items fit well underneath.
I cleaned and organized my make-up drawer today.
It took 5 minutes...:)
Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx all carry these fabric jewelry organizers.
I have them displayed in my closet. This way I can see what to wear.
The guest room closet is kept clutter free for guest use.
A few extra pillows and blankets are all that is needed.
The luggage rack is from BB & Beyond. They love it!
~*~
I admit I do not like having clutter around.
I think I am the anti hoarder. Ha!
Even our garage is really empty. Click here to see.
A fabulous book is Martha's Homekeeping Handbook.

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful weekend!

Good for you!!! I love how at ease I feel when everything is in it's spot, but it isn't achieved as much as I'd like it. Too, lemon juice and cream of tarter work on porcelains too!

I am new to blog land, and I just found your blog. I just wanted to tell you that I love your blog page, it is very pretty!

Melissa - Your home is so neat and organized. I especially admired your neat napkin drawer and napkin ring drawer. I try to declutter but am sentimental and won't throw certaint things out so they get "stuffed." If you move in the future, it will certainly be easier for you with your organization skills.

Your cabs look a lot like mine ... I can't stand clutter (although, we *do* have a junk drawer ... lol)!! I have to have everything grouped together and in its place! However, I'm always looking for new ways to organize ... love the little shelf you have for your spices. I have mine on a little lazy susan in the cabinet, which really works, but I like how you've done yours, too. I'm going to check "Ma-tha's" book out. Thanks for sharing!

Becca said...

PS ... love the tip for cleaning the coffee/tea stains off of cups. May I share another tip ... the Magic Eraser wipes off those stains in a split second! Those things clean ANYthing! Hugs, Becca

Your post is so inspiring!! My cabinets are just stuffed and drawers overflowing. I purge them and they magically fill up again!! I am going to have to work on this as I really admire your organization! Thanks for all of your tips!

Ok, can you come help me organize my knick-knacks? lol! You do a wonderful job keeping everything in its place. I used to be just like you until I had children. I guess my organizing skills went out the window. I stuff things in the cabinets when I'm in a hurry. You made a lot of great points and I really like your tips, thank you. Great post, Melissa. =) I'm hoping in the next week, or so, I too, can get clutter free and organized.

XOXO ~Liz

P.S. Thanks for the sweet comments on my post the other day! *smile*

OK, you've totally motivated me to get my pantry cleaning finished, get that desk clutter free and cupboards cleared out :) I did start a box today to take to Goodwill, one thing going is my cappuccino maker! I haven't used it in the whole 6 years I've been in TX!! I do have other stuff in my plate cupboards, you have inspired me to find a proper place for them. Oh, but I must confess (as I will soon on my blog) THAT room that I showed, will be like that for some while I'm afraid :( I got no help or encouragement from hubby when I suggested I clear it, I just about cried. I just can't deal with it right now. A lot of the stuff is his and I just don't know where to put it, so I'm leaving it. Not worth stressing about it right now.

Melissa said...

Uh, can you say AWESOME?!

I have one question though....what do you do with gifts that really don't fit or work with your current arrangements/space?

Many Blessings,
M.

I've spent the time since Christmas going through every closet and drawer in our house. I couldn't believe the amount of things I donated or threw away. It feels so much better to have it all organized. The biggest problem is that now I don't know where anything is! LOL
The basement is next, our big project for the winter. It's a mess and I need to get all holiday items reorganized down there.

Your cabinets look great!

How wonderful! I am not that organized. I have 4 (count 'em four) junk drawers!!! OMG!!

Liz@http://infusewithliz.blogspot.com/ said...

Great job! Looks marvelous! I'll try to remember the tip on the stain removal! I keep my cupboards organized all the time, but I do have a small junk drawer which is mostly some small hand tools, pens, phone book...but it is a catch all spot! This is what winter weather does to you, makes you want to sort and neaten things up!

This looks very good. I am sad to say I am sooo not in the same company as you. I hold on to way too much stuff! I especially like your makeup drawer. I really want to get there on the make up drawer though, Oh, why can't I? :((

alright i'll admit. i'm jealous. VERY jealous. BUT...I hate clutter too!!! I have been doing the great 2010 cleanout (which went well into 2011), ha-ha. I got rid of 9 bags of stuff, plus a TON of stuff for yard sale. I typically try and keep my drawers and spaces clean though!

Hi Melissa,
Great post, and one of my favorite subjects. I love uncluttered rooms and storage and think it is "fun" to organize. But, I'm bad with paper. Can't seem to keep on top of that so that is one area I am going to work on in 2011.
Have a great day!
Sue

That's exactly how I keep my things. Neat, Organized and Clutter Free. Some people call it OCD, I call it organized. I hate messy cabinets and drawers. Thanks for the tip with the lemon juice. I have a couple of coffee cups that I need to clean up.

Oh boy, oh boy! I loved seeing your clutter-free spaces! My husband would feel like he'd gone to heaven if our home were that clutter-free, so that's my next hope for this place!

I'm not a horrible hoarder, but I AM a stacker. I bring things in and pile them up. I've recently learned that my habit of doing that drives my husband crazy. So it's a behavior I'm going to change! I think you're right about cleaning being much easier if there's no clutter.

Thank you, thank you for the inspiration!

Oh dear., my home USED to be this organized all the time.

Ever since I bought my tiny little home, I just haven't found my 'groove' yet. Or maybe its that I havne't found a home for everything yet. It makes me crazy! This inspires to get my home back in shape! :)

Impressive. I am also an anti-clutter gal, but when it comes to holiday items I am a self-admitted hoarder. Spending the next few days packing it all up for storage. Then maybe I can focus on some early Spring cleaning.

Melissa..you are WONDERFUL! I had to be organized with seven little ones and married to a USMC Drill Instructor! Nothing else would do!
Not so much now, which is odd, because now that the children are all grown it would be so much easier.
Still...I guess I should get busy and do a bit more organizing! I mean, it couldn't hurt.
Your home looks wonderful! I have always admired women like you and always wished I was more like them! :) But then I wanted to be blond too!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for your inspiration. :)

Wow Melissa!! You are so organized! I am so jealous!!! Everything is perfection...even your make-up drawer.

I have bad habits of shoving things in drawers and closets...Kevin can tell you that! lol...When is is looking for something he will ask "Where did you shove it?" I guess I would rather have the clutter shoved somewhere rather than in plain site! hehehe. I am seriously planning on cleaning out soon...I can't stand it much longer!

I am very envious of your clutter free home!!

I agree with you that "everything has a place and everything is in it's place" . . . nothing that doesn't belong! Super post! Roz

Oh wow! Melissa your really good at organizing. This summer I attacked my closet because I got tired of it being a mess. I filled up four giant bags of old clothes and stuff I needed to get rid of. The tip of getting rid of stains in mugs is a good one and I should try it. I should really work on my make up and jewlery next. Your drawers are so neat and tidy its inspiring me to continue cleaning out all my things. Thanks for all the tips and insperation!
