A Light To Stand On

Hello Everyone!
How is your weekend going? Today is finally
a beautiful and sunny day here in NC. Yay!
We are expecting more of the same all week.
I had been searching for a desk lamp for the
home office and could not find anything I liked.
The room has one window and get's minimal light.
I decided to add a new table to hold a larger lamp.
Check it out!
The lamp and accent table are fom Marshalls.
Now a warm glow is achieved in this tiny room.
*All photos enlarge when clicked.*
A large red vase and sticks are from Target.
I added a magnifying glass and book from Marshalls.
A photo and succulent plant surround the lamp.
The plants are from Michaels.
My hubs initial *A* sits on top of the books.
An ornate drawer finial is up top. I adore all finials.
The wall desk unit is from Ashley Furniture.
Our crowntail betta fish *Newton*.
A delicious smelling sandalwood candle is nice.
The freshwater fish aquarium.
The walls are a khaki color called *Shortbread*.
The bookcase is from Lowes.
The lamp is Kirklands and the drapes Target.
Another chunky finial. I find them everywhere.
Chestnut is guarding his lair.
You can see how the room needed more light.
I just love having this new lamp and table.
The area rug is new and came from Marshalls.
Kristen made the *M* frame. It matches well.
One last view of the plant.
Have a wonderful week!

Love the office and the table with the lamp is perfect! I have small rooms and only one window per bedroom so I know what you mean about lighting. I've actually put up a mirror on the opposite wall to reflect light and give the illusion of another window. I love finials too, especially things to do with the Fleur-de-lis design! Chestnut is quite the cat! I would love to pick him up and squeeze him- I love cats. I'm doing paperwork today and my cats are being nosy and trying to get in a bag I'm throwing stuff in! They are a fun distraction! Have a great rest of the week-end.... Liz

What a great office space, Melissa. I love the room. You have it decorated beautifully. The finials are all a nice touch. Chestnut looks so cute sitting up on the desk. He's so pretty!
I'm happy to hear you solved the mystery with your furniture color! Isn't it amazing how the lighting can change the color of paint and furnishings in a room?

Enjoy your warm weather. It is a lot warmer here than it has been. It is nice to have some warmer temps again after such a cold spell from this last storm.

Great office space; so well decorated! Love all the details, Melissa! You mentioned that you are moving; is your home for sale yet and have you begun looking? I remember when we built our home 6 years ago, we moved from a traditional brick home with dark stained cabinets, doors, and trim to this house that I wanted all light and sunny. We completely through out all of the decorating items that had our old color scheme of dark blue, burgundy, and emerald out the door and replaced everything with whites, yellows, creams, corals, and green. And now upstairs we're adding aqua and Tiffany blues to take on a more spa look in the private quarters that we use to 'escape the world' even beyond our first floor brightness. It is so refreshing! We feel so much more uplifted . . . even in the dreary days of winter! Best wishes on your new venture!

Yes, the rug is definitely the finishing touch to your GOOORGEOUS office! I like the wall color too. I have seen that color chip and always wondered about it. I tend to shy away from kaki's because they tend to pick up a pink cast. I am not opposed to pink at all but if I want a beige or khaki that is what I want. I am thinking about paint colors for the bedroom and I will definitely consider the shortbread.

Have a wonderful weekend. Sue
P.S. So glad to hear that you are finally getting some good weather.

Forgot to add. I have been searching for a new lamp for my living room and I am not finding one that I like. The ones I like are either too short or they are way more than what I want to spend. The hunt continues.

That is one beautiful office. I have to ask about the helicopter/rainbow picture. Is that your husband's helicopter?

Mr. Chestnut looks huge laying on the desk. Sophie is always up on something too. If a person would be offended by that....they'd just better not come to our house.

I am glad you checked the cushion. That room is really nice. I would love to put a rug in our office, but my hubs says he doesn't want one. And I struggle with the lighting in my home all the time. So I totally know what you are up against. But everything is always gorgeous!!

Great job with the home office, Melissa. I have a spare room that I'm working to transition into a home office, but for right now, it's a mess of boxes and large plastic bins. One day....

It's warmer here, too. I actually have my A/C on today.

Take care,
