The End Of The Road

Hello Friends!
As you may have noticed I have posted less lately. I have decided to take a
long absense from the blog world. I have thought hard about this and it's
an easy answer as to why I'm doing it. I have simply run out of post topics.
When I started my blog over 2 1/2 years ago it took me some time to
decide what kind of blog I wanted. In fact I first started a much more personal
type of blog but closed it after only a few weeks. My hubby really didn't like
the idea of sharing our lives unless I had it set to private. A few months later
I had so many friends from RMS starting their own blogs I decided to jump
on the bandwagon and start a new one but this time it would only be a home
decor' style blog. I have pretty much stuck to that topic with a few exceptions
such as my weight loss. Since I changed my lifestyle for health reasons I decided it
was important to share it with you and all of you seemed to really like those posts.
You can read all of the posts on it if you are interested located on my sidebar.
My one year weight loss update remains my most popular post to this day.
Thank you to all of you who encouraged me during that difficult time.
I hope all of you who changed your lifestyle along with me are still doing well.
Feel free to let me know how you are doing and if you have questions.
~*~
Our upcoming move to Maryland has me at a decorating standstill. I have many
ideas swirling around in my head but they will have to wait for our future home.
No sense changing a thing in this home now. The real estate market has stalled and
it would not be worth our time or money. I feel fairly confident our home is going to
sell when the time comes. We are in a great neighborhood so we'll see what happens.
I'm going to start cleaning and donating to Goodwill over the next few months
to get ready for it. I plan to have a simpler, less cluttered look the next time around.
If anything comes up about decorating before we move I will be sure and share it with
you. I'll share our future house hunt with you when the time comes as well. I'm ready!
For now all is quiet on the homefront and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
I hope you will all be here when I come back and post again.
I thought about closing my blog, setting it to private or not posting at all
and in the end I decided to let you know the real deal.
I know I'll be back I just don't know when. Thanks to all of you for reading along and your
kind comments. I know it takes your valuable time to leave them. Feel free to stop by and
say Hi anytime. Just because I'm not posting doesn't mean we can't stay in touch through
leaving comments. My email is at the top right of my blog if you prefer. I'm here for you.
Flip through my old posts. You're always welcome here.
This was a hard post to write. I'll miss you guys. Stay healthy and happy.

I will miss you while you take a break sweetheart. I think you can count on many of us still being around when you have something you want to share. I don't post as often either and it really takes a lot of pressure off. I don't have as many decorating projects and usually just share my day-to-day life.

Take care and I can't wait to "see" you again!

Hi Melissa,

I struggle with that and then start posting family, travels, yards, etc. I never know if it will be of interest but after all a blog is a personal journal.
I will miss you! I have enjoyed each of my visits to your blog.
I think about you every time I see the "Dorothy" plaque in my guest room.
Wishing you a fun and restful summer.
I'll look forward to the posts about your house hunting.
I hope you still do some blog visiting when you have time. It's always great hearing from you.

Wishing you all the best with your move Melissa.

We have come to a point in our lives that we feel it's time to downsize. Every change we've made to our home over the past year has been geared toward selling, hopefully at least by early next year. And then the exciting adventure of finding a smaller place and starting a new chapter in our lives begins.

After 4 1/2 years, I am still blogging as the ideas and thoughts just keep coming and I feel, at my age, I need the mental exercise blogging provides. So I'll keep plugging along with the Back Porch. Maybe not so many decorating posts, but posts just for fun, that may not be the most popular.

Again, wishing you the best!

Hi Melissa,

Your blog is one of the very first ones I began reading and following. Having started my own recently, I realize how challenging it is to not only come up with ideas but to take the time to post, take and upload pics. I work outside the home and most days am so tired from juggling work family and home. I must say though, your blog has insipred me so much and I'm sure hundreds of other ladies will say the same. Thank you for having shared your life with us. You are a wonderful lady with a great sense of style. If you continue to blog, I'm sure you will continue to be inspired and come up with many more wonderful posts. If not, then it is probablly time to take a well deserved rest. Many blessings on all your future endeavors.

Well, I left you a comment but I don't think it went through, but if you see 2 from me that's what happened lol.

It's totally understandable to be taking a break. Life is full and busy and sometimes our muse takes a much needed break as well;) I opted for getting rid of my blog altogether. School and my health have taken priority, as well they should. I need to wrap up school to get a job. I am happy to report that I am slowly on my way to weight loss and better health as well Yah me!

Good luck on all your future endeavors friend. Maybe in the future we shall both return with new blogs and fresh thoughts.

I wish you well with selling your home and moving to Maryland. Keep us up to date when you can through email. I'm not far from your future home here in Delaware so whenever you have a question or just want to talk, feel free. I wish you and your hubby much joy and I hope to hear from you down the road.

I'm going to miss your posts SO much, Melissa!

This is such a hard part of blogging - people seem to want online magazines filled with a new and creative idea a day rather than web journals that allow us to get to know one another and develop friendships.

I wish you all the best in your move. You will be sorely missed! Please hurry back!

Melissa, I'll miss you but I totally understand! I am going through the same thing not because I don't have anything to blog about, but I just don't have time! Enjoy your break and your move! We'll be here when you return!

Dear Melissa, I will miss you, yet I do understand your decision. You have so much on your mind right now with your new move and I know that if you choose to blog again, you'll have amazing beauty to share!

Blessings, Roz in SC
