Moving Up To Maryland

Hello Everyone!
Our upcoming move is getting closer and I can't wait. Hooray!
As you may have guessed by the post title we are moving to Maryland.
My husband should have his official orders in July, our home will be for
sale by August and we should be moving between November and February.
We sure hope everything goes as planned. We have been here for five years
and it's definitely time to move on. I realized that this home is the longest I have
ever lived anywhere. Isn't that crazy? My father was in the Air Force and with
my husband being a Marine I am always on the move. I'm ready to stay put.
Here are some beautiful images from our future home state.
Are any of my readers from Maryland? Let me know any details.
A scenic bridge in Annapolis, Maryland.
Downtown Annapolis looks quaint and charming.
Baltimore is beautiful! I look forward to visiting this city as well.
We will be about an hour from Washington DC. I have never been and I'm excited to see it.
I thought this city view was DC at night. Oops!
This is actually San Diego, Ca. I did a search for DC and this came up for some reason.
A comment was left here telling me. Thank you! Well, maybe I'll visit this city one day too...:)
This is western Maryland and it looks great for hiking.
I'm sure we will explore a lighthouse.
And eat a crabcake or two. Yum! I love all kinds of seafood.
I've already started home shopping and found a few I like.
We plan to buy brand new and possibly build quickly if we have time.
All of the homes have large basements and tons of square footage.
Way more than we need but we will deal with it. It's more to decorate right?
I'm hoping for a brick front but they seem to be rare in the town we are moving to.
Here's another model to be built this summer. I liked it too!
I have never been to Maryland but of course an upcoming
house hunting trip will be in order. I'll show you the process.

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful weekend!

I am SO envious! I LOVE Maryland and always hoped we would get stationed in Annapolis. It wasn't in the cards but my husband does go down for meetings {brings me back crab cakes} and we go down for Academy reunions and weekends away. Now I have another great excuse to visit :)

So much to look forward to. I have been to Annapolis once several years ago. I just loved it. One of my good friends grew up there and married a guy from the Naval Academy. I visited once with her. A new house is so incredibly exciting. I've been married for 30 years and we have lived in a total of 2 houses! Best of luck but I know you will do fine...looking forward to seeing what you find. Have a great weekend...~Ann

I believe the picture you have of Washington DC at night w/ the buildings and water is downtown San Diego. The building w/ the green lights on the roof is a famous building here and the 2 tall buildings on the water is a Hyatt Hotel. Either way, the East is so beautiful. DC is my favorite city.

It seems everyone I know is moving "Crazy"...We are actually moving from Maryland back to NC...My husband is from Maryland so we visit family often...It is very beautiful especially the change of seasons...There is so many places that you will have access to...the inner harbor in Baltimore...the Chesapeake Bay...DC..If you like winter you will love it...I don't like the cold...lol

Looking forward to watching your transition and of course the great decorating!!

I was born and raised in Maryland...all over the state. My family moved a lot as well. You will definitely have to go to a Marine Corps "Sunset Parade" at 8th and I. They have them on Friday nights in the summer...awesome to see! I spent 10 years on active duty in the Marine Corps and my husband is a retired Marine. You will thoroughly enjoy living in Maryland! I now live near Virginia Beach, Virginia but still have a lot of family in Maryland.

Congrats on the nice place you will be moving! Looks like a lot of fun to pick out a new place to move into and a new town to explore! 5 years is the longest you've lived in one place? Big wow! I grew up in one house and lived there until I was 21...then moved several times before we stopped here...been in this house 22 years...I can hardly believe it! I know you will find a great place and have it looking just the way you want in no time! I hope all your plans work out like clock work! Liz

Congratualtions, Melissa! The photos look so beautiful. I myself have never been to Maryland, but one of my best friends is from there. She loves it and talks about it all the time! I wish you and your hubby the very best with the move. I know that feeling of waiting for the official orders. I remember getting antsy to move on after about 3 years of being stationed somewhere. Like you, the longest hub and I lived anywhere was 5 years, while we were in the military. My father was military also, so moving often has always been a part of my life.
I look forward to hearing all about your new home and the move.
Good luck!

Maryland was my very first home state when we moved to the US :) We lived about 20 minutes from Baltimore in a little town called Pasadena. I took my sister and her hubby to DC and Annapolis and of course the Baltimore Harbor when they came to visit. I miss the East coast, it's beautiful in the fall, I loved the snow too, and if I'd had a pool I wouldn't have minded the humid summers!!! We lived there for 6 yrs before moving to TX

Hi Melissa, I'm glad you like the music idea. I actually did ask Chase what color he wanted the room and he said he didn't care...he likes the green now. lol...That's what made me think that maybe I could just keep that color and work around it.I'm actually thinking of pairing it with black. Chase likes the idea of going with the records and guitars...something "Cool" of course. I plan on buying some things to get an idea of how it will look. If it looks awful, I will definitely bite the bullet and paint. You know I just will not be able to stand a room that looks bad! lol... I just found out Kirkland's has some music stuff. It might really look good in the room. I'm going this week to check it out. Kristen
