Hello Everyone!
We had an unwelcome visitor this weekend and her name was Irene.
We had 24 solid hours of rain and wind that shook our floors. That was a
strange feeling. We had debris blown in the yard and some trees that almost
fell. A roof leak in our master bathroom will require some attention. Other than
that we did well. The power was out for about about 12 hours but we consider that
lucky considering millions are without power right now. If she blew your way I hope
you are doing well. Stay safe. How did you weather the storm? Share with us.
How did I not lose this flag? I forgot to bring it in.
A path of leaves and debris. The leaves were stuck to all of the windows too.
We came very close to losing this cypess tree.
The gutters are filled with leaves. The city will clean it soon.
My husband is trying to fix the tree. He may need to restake it.
We are thankful the roof held up well. Some of our neighbors lost parts of theirs.
Cool weather cannot get here quick enough. Go away hurricanes.
Update:
How did we not notice the missing shutter on our garage?
Our neighbor gave it back to us.

Have a wonderful week!

So glad you are all ok. Such a terrible storm. Many prayers have been answered that it wasn't as severe as they first thought. Stay safe. I love your new header, it is stunning. Hugs, Marty
Glad you are safe and your home also! That was a scarey threat...but all good that it wasn't worse!
So glad you didn't have any major damage! My thoughts and prayers have been with all of you in the storm's path. Have a great week! Blessings!
So glad it wasn't worse. I was praying and praying for all my blog friends in it's path! :D
Glad the damage was minimal. Thank God Irene wasnt as bad as predicted, but it was bad enough! Continue to stay safe. I'm in Texas so we weren't affected by Irene. Its just very hot and dry here. We need rain very much.
Glad you are well! My son in Virginia still does not have power. But you are right, It could have been so much worse.
Hi Melissa, glad to hear you weathered the storm. We are here in upstate NY and one of our creeks overflowed its banks and its water is currently running down our street. We never lost power, though, and were spared from the high winds. Just lots of rain. The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny and warm, so thankfully we will dry out some time!
Yikes! So glad you are ok. You are right, it could have been much worse.
We actually had rain and 70 mph straight line winds here about three weeks ago. There were huge trees knocked down and half the roofs around here are covered in tarps. We were lucky....just leaves and small stuff like you.
Glad to hear you're safe Melissa, and not too much damage. I wouldn't mind a little rain but certainly don't want the hurricane!
I'm so glad you are safe. Thinking of you!
So glad it was not worse Melissa!
I'm happy to hear you are safe and sound, Melissa! In spite of the damage, your home still looks lovely!
XO,
Jane
so glad you are o.k. and it wasn't any worse. It totally missed us in Charleston... thank goodness. Have a good rest of the weekend!
I'm glad you're ok and you didn't have too much damage!
Take care,
Pam
I'm glad your ok and you didn't get too much damage! I've been thinking about you...glad everything is still standing. Kristen
So glad you escaped worse damage!
Glad that all is well. Good luck with the clean-up. That's always such a chore after a big storm.
I am glad to hear you all are ok!!
I just did two posts on the storm today. Glad its past us now.
Glad to read you are okay. Wasn't that some wind and rain? We were lucky and didn't lose any trees, but some of our neighbors lost some large trees. Take care.
Wendy
We were checking the weather all weekend since our tenants are so unreliable. I think they got less than half inch of rain, but it's something on my to do list this afternoon to call on. Grr- hoping we can sell the place next summer!
P.S. And I should have said this first- glad you're safe and that your house came through so well- that's a lot less headache as you two prepare to PCS!!
I am glad y'all are okay. You are right...Hurricane season needs to go away! ~Kim
Glad you guys are okay, Melissa! Let's hope that Irene doesn't have any siblings coming our way anytime soon!
Glad you made it through Irene!! I am loving that lacey little red maple by your front steps!! Hope the cypress gets righted okay. blessings ~ tanna
Glad to hear you escaped any real damage!
Glad you are safe and sound. Today is the 6th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and we here on the MS Gulf Coast are keeping all of those affected by Irene in our thoughts and prayers. Seeing the flooding this morning on the news brought back some very bad memories.
Hi Melissa...what a scary storm this was. When I heard Atlantic City and New York was closing down, I got real serious. We did well in my area, we lost power for 8 hours and cable for 11 hours. We did loose a dead tree, which we have been waiting for the day it went, and lucky for us, it landed in the woods and not on the house. I'm glad to hear that you didn't suffer much damage either. Hope this is it for this season.
Hugs,
Ellen
I'm happy to hear that everything went ok during the storm. We had minimal damage as well.
Have a great week!

Oh man Melissa, I am so glad you all are ok!!!!
Hi Melissa,
I am also so glad that it is over. Glad you didn't have much damage. I am just so thankful that it wasn't as bad as predicted.
Marianne :)
Of course in Michigan we felt nothing...but we did watch a lot of tv on it and it was quite something. I'm sure thos cypress will be fine with some staking...get the leak fixed and you are all set again! Glad you are okay and nothing worse happened!
Glad yall are safe! We had a LOT of uprooted trees on SJAFB.
Have a good day!
So glad you are safe and it was not more serious for you.
Those winds alone can be scary but flooding is a whole other story!
My heart goes out to those affected.
Hugs!
Glad you are all safe and didn't have any serious damage!!!
So glad you are all right. Your little flag must have held on tight huh?
Smiles,
Debbie
So glad you are okay! ANd so glad you are back to bloggin!!:)
I'm glad y'all didn't have any really serious damage. We're supposed to get tons of rain from whatever that is that's going on in the Gulf right now. We're leaving for Dallas in the morning so at least it won't ruin our weekend.
So glad that you are both ok. We live in Northern NJ and our town has be deemed a disaster. We did get some water in our basement but, we were very grateful that we never lost power and we were able to keep of wet vac running. All in all we were very lucky. Some people here have had upward of four or five feet of water in their homes/
Just happy you are safe. Sending prayers to all who experienced Irene. Hugs
I'm so glad you are safe and sound! Thinking of you.
