Neutral Rooms That Pop

Hello Everyone!
I had another blog design done in case you are wondering if you landed at the
right blog. Pay a visit to Jenn if you are interested in a new design. She is hands
down the best blog designer out there. Click here to meet her. Thanks again Jenn!
Grab my new butterfly button on the right column to display if you would like.

Many of you have asked about our upcoming move and the style change I plan
to make to our home decor'. What I'm thinking is a basic traditional style with
touches of old world warmth and pops of color. Does that even make sense?
I can see it in my mind. Here's hoping I can actually do it.
Join me to see a few of my inspiration photos of living spaces.
This is what I'm dreaming about... I love this room!
It's light, bright and airy. It has an interesting twist with color and unique items.
This is our current family room. You may remember back in January I purchased the
new sofas at Ashley Furniture. I told you the story of how they changed color on me.
You can read about it here if you missed that post. Since my hubby came home last
month we have also discoved that they are not comfortable at all. Needless to say
we will be selling them as soon as we move. Sometimes things work out for the best.
Between the color being off and the lack of comfort they have to go. Bye, bye sofas...:)
I have to find a chess set. Love the soothing blue colors on the sofa.
Beautiful! The arrangement of pictures and the animal rug are my favorites.
I adore the unexpected pop of the green vase. The chair fabric is gorgeous too.
All of the sofas shown are neutral but not boring. The bird pillows give it interest.
The mix of stripes and leather are unexpected and unique. I love this distressed red table.
The double tables and a striped rug look charming. I like the two lamp idea.
A rustic woven basket and the striped ottoman look good together.
I love the french doors and windows above them.
This has more color but the green keeps it neutral. The dark wood adds to the traditional look.
This room has comfort written all over it. I love that large clock.
Thanks for joining me on my dream tour of living spaces.
Which one is your favorite?

Keep the entire east coast in your prayers.
Between the earthquake and approaching hurricane I don't
know if I should be scared of the sky or the ground.  Lol!
I'm trying to remain calm and positive.
Have a wonderful week!

uh oh, the couches you already have? We were looking at them at a furniture store here and fell in love with them... looks very much like the ones you have. Since you mentioned they weren't comfortable at all... I wonder. When I sat on the couch in the store, I sank into the cushion and thought oh how comfortable!! But thats after millions of people have actually sat in it, right? Since its in a furniture store... hmm. We are going back there tonight to look at it again and I will keep in mind your experience with it!

I'll be going a similar way in our new place, Melissa! I've decided I prefer to bring in my color with the accessories and keep the basics neutral. Plus my sofa already has a white slipcover and that's coming with us.

Hi Melissa,
You are going to make some big changes, I see. I love the pics and wish I had a couple of those couches.
Your new blog design is striking!
We have felt the quake and hope to miss the brunt of the storm. We should get wind and rain but that's it..I hope!
Enjoy your evening!

Pretty new look here...I love that first room too, so light and bright and airy! It's good to go for a complete change now and then, good luck! (I keep hearing that the reason for the quake was...the founding fathers were turning over in their graves at all that in going on in Washington!) ;D

What a beautiful new blog look. It makes me want to change mine. ;) You have such good taste that no matter what you do, or how you vary your style, it's going to be gorgeous. I must admit that the very first picture warms my heart...that coffee table is way too cute.

Thanks for the inspiration! XO ~Liz

Love the inspiration pics, Melissa! I know how you've wanted to lighten and brighten a bit ... now, I bet you can't wait to get started. I'm sorry your sofa/loveseat set didn't work out, but, hey, maybe it was simply meant to be, right? We can't wait to see what you do ... it'll be gorgeous, no doubt!

Hi Melissa, Your blog looks so pretty! I do like the neutral colors...I love the pics you have posted, especially the first room. It has alot of great design elements. I am really liking the neutral rooms as long as they have some pops of color. I know your new house will be just beautiful! Kristen

Hi girly! I love the new look you are going for. You totally need to find one of those tables with wheels. They are so neat!

I adore the new blog design. Very nice.

I'm not sure which room I like the best, but I do love the light sofas. I think that will be so easy to change up with new pillows if you feel the need for a change in a few years. I saw a few photos with the railroad carts as the coffee table - love that look! Wish they weren't so darn expensive.

I love the new blog design, Melissa. It's reflective of your upcoming change in decorating style. I am very fond of cream and green and cream and blue color combinations. So soothing and fresh. I'm really excited for you and your husband. It will be so much fun to watch your decorating dreams come true!

Hi Melissa! I love the design of your new blog. The tame brown color but the designs make it so elegant. Among the inspirations you have presented I love the first picture. The colors selections are discreet yet when they were combined, they look so elegant and homey. I love the table with those cart wheels too. SO unique. Looking forward in reading your new posts, new blog and new life in a new place :)

I loved my reds and golds for many years but when it was time for them to go, it was time for them to go NOW! I'm loving all the neutral colors I've been incorporating in my home for the last year or so. You will too!

Can't wait to see how you pull it all together once you get to your new home.

XOXO!

Hi Melissa, great photos, but my favorites are - in this order - the first and the last. I have always had a lot of color, but have been working it out of my rooms and I find that it's very soothing to have calm colors. Hey, we all need a change from time to time! Linda

I'm sorry to hear about the furniture but glad you posted that. I have been looking at furniture to buy and really wonder sometimes what it'd be like when I got it home. I've bought things before and turned around and sold them also. Love your home. I just started a new marriage and moved into his newly built blank slate home and needed some inspiration. You're home is definitely that. Thank you!

Love the colors...so calming. Everything looks very comfy. You have great taste, Melissa!!

Will keep all those along the East coast in my prayers. We lost nearly everything in Katrina and I don't want anyone to experience such devastation ever again.

Take care.

Hi Melissa, So happy to see you are good and posted! I wished you a Happy Birthday on a post back in early August and wasn't sure if you saw it...so happy wishes and healthy year to you.I remembered because our children have summer and August birthdays. We experienced the earthquake and our house shook "head to TOE"!!Now we are prepping for a NJ hurricane, what a week. I always love your style....home clothing, dishes. I can't wait to see what your new ideas look like. Take care and much success on your future plans, hugs...Emelia.

I hope you have plenty of food, water and batteries for your flashlights! I've been watching everything on T.V. Wow! I bet it's scary there right now. I just can't believe the size of that thing!

I really did learn alot from the class...I'm glad I got to do it. I didn't mention it, but we also got to tour some of the homes he decorated. They were fabulous!

Take care!!! Kristen

I love all your inspiration pics. What fun to be able to start over. I have often thought I would like to sell everything I own and start from scratch. Not very practical though...good luck with the move. Hope you get some news soon.

Love your inspiration pics, the first is my favorite. I want that coffee table bad!

Love the inspiration pictures - I also love that look! The picture you have of the striped ottoman coffee table with the basket on the top - that is my favorite! I am hoping to purchase a fabric ottoman soon for our living room. I understand the sofa issue - The one I bought in the spring has always seemed a little too dark for me...oh well, we could have bigger problems! Haha. Your new blog design looks great :)
