The Moving Conclusion

Hello Everyone!
Remember our upcoming move to Maryland?
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would tell you this outcome.
Are you ready for this? We are not moving. At least for the next two years.
What? How did that happen? That is the military for you. Unbelievable.
We are both still a little in shock after finding out the news last week.
As you know we had been waiting for well over a year to have his orders cut
for a new assignment in Maryland. This March makes six years we have lived here.
As of this coming July he moves to a great new job at one of our local bases. He's fine.
I'm fine as well. I just wanted to know the final answer. As you can guess I will be
decorating our current home up a storm! I am excited and I have wasted no time.
Here are the overall plans:
1. Paint every single interior room. It's all going to be lighter and brighter!
2. Rearrange three rooms. We will now use them how we live.
Goodbye formal living room, hello new home office, bonus room
becomes a media room, bonus room moves to the current office.
This includes selling and replacing some furniture. Fun stuff!
3. Have the kitchen cabinets painted a light cream.
4. Remove the carpet downstairs and have hardwoods installed.
5. Steam clean upstairs carpets and pressure wash house exterior.
6. Update flower beds and clean up our current landscaping.
7. Replace outdoor deck rug, pillows, clean back deck.
8. Update, redecorate each room along the way.
I hope to have all of this complete within the next few months. I hope!
I have held off so long with decorating thinking we were moving I'm more than ready.
Check out our progress so far. Big thanks to my hubby for all of his hard work.
Goodbye gold paint. This room is done! I'll show you soon...:)
Ugh...what a mess painting and moving furniture makes. I have no patience. Pray for me.
We will be selling the fabric sofas and armoire this week.
A cheerful aqua for the new workout, Chestnut's room.
I chose soft colors for the master suite.
A deep teal for the guest bath. Love this color with chocolate brown.
The guest room color will be another aqua blue shade.
My paint color choices for the entry, family room and kitchen.
All of the colors are from Martha Stewart at Home Depot.
The formal dining room colors. A painting was my inspiration.
New drapes and hardware for the future media room.
A new fan too. This is also the room that will need new furniture.
Stay tuned for many before and after posts right here.
Finally I feel like I will have much to share with you. Hooray!
Have a wonderful week!

WOW, Melissa! My goodness, you must feel as though you've been on an emotional roller coaster!! I'm glad you finally have an answer--and it looks as if you have great things planned for your house. It'll be fun to see what you do!

I'm glad to know that you'll be in North Carolina awhile longer. I think that some time we should have an NC bloggers get-together.

Oh my, you will be quite busy. But it will be just beautiful, with your excellent taste. I was happy to think you were moving a little closer north, but oh well, as long as it makes you two happy, it is a good thing! xo

That must of been a shock to find out you are staying put for now. At least you have a beautiful home to stay in.
I'm with you, I hate painting. And of course, painting means you need new furniture. lol.
Once you get by the painting, it should be fun. You have some great decorating ideas!!

Wow, you are going to be one busy girl. Love the blue colors you chose. I have the hardest time choosing colors, they never look how I imagined them, so I end up back at Home Depot 49,000 times picking up a new quart to try. Can't wait to see all the new changes!!!

That military roller coaster sure keeps you on your toes! Can't wait to see all that you do in the house. Two more years - that's a long extension! Our daughter and her husband have another year before they find out where their next billet will take them - we're hoping closer to us! Good luck with all of the painting!

Wow! Did you win the lottery? I think it's wonderful that you can do so much at once...amazing. At least now you have your "destination" and can settle in. The colors are really nice!

Look forward to the results ~

P.S. I totally understand about the mess...I've had that situation for 2 months with all that's gone on here. Frustrating, to say the least. Hey, but it's nice to see that your home is not 100% "perfect" 24/7 too. :-)

I can't believe you've been in one place so long! And I can't wait to see how you combine all those pins into one cohesive look! So, when I come back stateside and have to come to NC to take care of our house, maybe we can do lunch?!?!

Hi Melissa. That is one ambitious decorating list! I'm going to enjoy watching everything that you do. I can imagine what a relief it must be to finally know where the next few years will be spent! I for one am glad that you're staying because maybe I'll get to actually meet you on one of our trips down to N. Topsail!

Marla and Steve said...

A list like that would take me years to accomplish since I have such a hard time making up my mind. Love all your choices so far and I think you deserve all the new nesting decor and more for the moving roller coaster you've had to ride.

Stunning colors. I went with linen colors, chocolate browns
and it's coming alone well.
I can't wait to see what you do.
I did do creme italian leather in
the great room and two chocolate brown walls with linen walls on the opposite walls in the kitchen nook. It takes a lot of time but working full time you don't get it all done in a couple of months. I wish you well about the news but I know you are excited to get your house the way you want it.

Looks like you are going to be one busy woman! I know that you are glad to finally know your destination even if it is the same place! The not knowing has to be tedious! I can't wait to see what you do! It all looks so beautiful with just he samples! You will put your magic touch to it and it will be gorgeous!

Congratulatons! Although I know you must feel like it's been a roller coaster ride. You sound like me while waiting, I redecorate my entire house to the thought of "if I stayed here." Glad you didn't sell your house. The plans you have sound amazing.

Melissa, congratulations on great news. Your house is just wonderful. Prayers for you for easy renovation. All your plans sound lovely. Is the new kitchen color a sage green or taupe? The colors are soft and timeless, can't wait to see all your progress. Thank you for sharing, many congratulations for your husband's close by job!I am so happy for you. You have such wonderful ideas and plans, take care and hugs! OX.

Easier than moving!!

Melissa Miller said...

Thank you Emelia. You are always so kind hearted and caring. Yes, The kitchen paint I chose is a taupe called Tobacco Leaf. It has just enough color to contrast with the white molding. I will have the cabinets painted a cream and it should blend well. We used it in the home office too. I'll share the office soon. Today I must finish the bookshelves and get ready to sell the family room furniture. We need it out of here. It's a crowded mess right now.
